So I've been trying to put in my leaf spring pack ( all pro standard) , and no matter which way I jack the axle up or down, it seems to be exactly 1 inch to long to hit the 2nd bolt. Any ideas?

Does the other side fit or is this the first side you've tried?

If it looks like the shackle can pivot more on the leaf spring, I'd try either a pry bar or a rubber mallet. It looks very close. What about trying to drop the shackle straight down into the mount. Hope that makes sense?

The shackle is actually maxed out hitting against the leaf spring, and as for dropping it in that's what I attempted but it's as if the leaf spring isn't compressed enough so it's too long or too far passed the hole.

And there is where my frustration is heh...

I appreciate the help though guys thanks, any ideas let me know I'm scratching my head here

Assuming that you have the right spring packs for your application...I remember the installation being a bit of grunt work when I installed them in my 1st gen.

A friend helped me; that makes it way easier.

What we did; my friend "wiggled" the axle up/down and back/foward with a floor jack (obviously the truck was on very tall jack stands by the frame) while I removed the old leaf packs and installed the new ones. It was a dance between my friend maneuvering the axle and me lining the leaf pack in its location.

Tip: working on one side at a time makes life easier!

We didn't need to do the "jack bottle method" mentioned above. Just work on one side at a time. Attach the front bolt only (leave it loose), then attach the leaf pack to the axle with the u-bolts. The weight of the axle will stretch/compress the leaf pack as you wiggle it with the floor jack.

I did use a pry bar to line up the holes.

It was actually an easy job with two people.

I actually think installing it front the front and then the shackle end last with the method I described above is the way to go...Well, at least in a 1st gen.

The issue is that the spring pack needs to be compressed/stretched no matter what for the holes to align. That's the issue!

So it is not a shackle that moves back and forward? :D
