    I don't want to throw a deer carcass in the back of a 4Runner... or a dirty engine, or wet camping gear, or a cooler full of fish.....etc. etc.


    For the OP, it depends on what you need. I need to secure gear during traveling. Currently, I use a cheap tonneau. I love the ability to secure my gear. Unfortunately, on longer trips, I need more room. I'll get a mid rise cap as soon as I can afford it.


    If I need to haul stuff that won't fit in the tonneau or camper shell, I have a 4'x8' trailer.
