When I had that new 17 for a few days for an extended test drive I was only able to get the drivers side door handle to work one time, always ended up having to reach in my pocket to get the remote out to open the door so it was a bigger PITA than normal.

There's a slight adjustment period for sure. Haven't had any problems at all past the initial (very small) learning curve. I've never had a problem unlocking it but in the beginning once or twice i had to tap more than once to lock. Figured out quickly where and how to put your fingers to get it to lock right away.

I got tired of messing around with trying to get it to work.

I think it is the limited that has the built in garage door opener.

I'm coming from a 2012 SR5 so the only thing I really care about is heated seats, and even that I don't really care much about. The darker fabric in the sport looks better IMO. The only real feature I'd pay more for is the rear locker but the OR isn't available in a DCLB in Canada.

The US Sports don't have it by default, but Canadian Sports have buttons on the underside of the rear-view mirror that will open garage doors.

The mirror with the garage door opener buttons can be had for like $150 on eBay. I wouldn't go to a specific trim level just for that. There's a thread here about swapping to those mirrors.

I'll piggyback on @Wallbright a bit. I came from a 4 bangin' 98 pre runner with manual Windows/locks/no cruise and I had to turn my head for blind spot detection. 12 years. When I brought home the v6 sr5 with the slightly upgraded wheels, cruise control, power everything and 4x4 AND A MOTHER FUCKING BACK UP CAMERA i felt like royalty. Simple minds simple pleasures. Heated seats and beepy beeps when you reverse is for sure the way the industry is going but you know what? I don't have to lean over to the passenger side and crank the window down anymore.

First truck I ever drove was a 95 F150 XL. Two options: Cassette deck and A/C. I know all too well the art of opening the passenger window and unlocking that door. Cruise control was having a steady foot. Was great then but now seems in line with the Flinstones mobile compared to what I drive today.

    I can relate

My 01 is embarrassingly flintstone poverty spec

    No clock
    No tach
    No power
    Slow as molasses 2.7L
    Big body 4 door heavy
    Black bumper
    Black mirror
    Black grille
Seats more uncomfortable than a Mississippi city bus

One thing I do like about the truck (same thing Taliban and UN also like), is that it's a very honest automobile

While all my neighbors get in their autonomous tesla x, mine doesn't have a tachometer even. But it tells me WHICH SIDE the fuel door is

You can get darker seats with the SR5. It comes in either black with caramel stitching or black with red. I went black with red and it is a huge upgrade over the regular gray color. It's not an upcharge either.
