Hi everyone, i have a question and i couldnt find another thread on it. I have a 2002 tacoma, 2.7 3rz-fe 160,000 miles. Its a really nice truck, always been taken care of. It has one problem. Whenever i first start driving when its cold, it has a vibration when i get to a certain rpm. And its not a really high rpm (i dont know exactly because it doesnt have a tach). The vibration is definitely somewhere in the engine, its completely different from the exhaust heat shields vibrating. Once the truck heats up to normal temperature, it never does it. I always let the truck warm up for at least a minute or 2, and longer on really cold days. But the colder it is, the worse it is, and as it continues to warm up, it gets better and better till it quits. I use mobile 1 5w-30. I was thinking it could be the valves needing adjusted, but not sure. So if anyone has had this problem, or knows what it is, please help. Thanks

I would guess its running rich when cold per the computer programming, maybe try new plugs and clean your air filter/maf. If that doesn't do it maybe check your egr valve.

Any possibility of the tires creating a bit of a flat spot over night when cold then rounding out after a short jhont and warming up? Just trying to think outta the box...

Yeah ive checked my tires, but thats not it. Because if, say, i only run 1st gear to 10 mph, and 2nd to 20, it doesnt do it. But when first gets to 15 and 2nd to 25, thats when i can hear its. Its actually the loudest when i let off the gas to shift. It vibrates worse when letting off

Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
how is the condition of the driveshaft carrier support bearing? Shouldn't have too much play in it when you go and push it up. If it's old and worn it will cause some high speed vibrations. Could be cold, dirty engine though.... or motor mounts... Just throwing ideas out there.

Ya know it almost could be a ujoint too with those symptoms. Especially because its at its worst when you let off the skinny pedal.

Check the radiator fan? Maybe the clutch is bad.

Ive thought about some if those possibilities. I just think the strangest part is that it only does it when its first warming up, and only at "higher" rpm. Like i said, the truck doesnt have a tach so i dont know what rpm exactly. If i was guessing, 2500-3000. Other than that, the truck is perfect, engine is strong, no othet unusual noises. Just worries me a little.
