Ive had the same issues with mine as well. Even with a wifi booster I still get struggling speeds on my PS4 compared to my Xbox 1. I have also read where the Xbox1's NIC(network interface card) is much superior over the PS4.

I disagree with this. My modem and router have to be in one of my spare bedrooms due to that room's outlet has the strongest signal. So both my Xbox1 and PS4 are both wireless. Plus, I don't plan on staying in this house much longer to really dive into running the appropriate cables through my attic and down my walls. My next house I will do all the appropriate wiring since I plan on being in it longer than this one. This was just basically my startup home and when/if the fiancé and I have kids, just the 2 of us have really already outgrown my house now so add a kid to that mix and we will be crammed.

I try to stream playing Forza to YouTube or Twitch and it just goes to shit real fuckin' quick.

 

I can stream my twitch from my Xbox1 no problem, PS4 however turns to a shit show. When I do speed tests on my Xbox 1 I usually average about 45Mbps down and 25Mbps up. On my PS4, its more like 3-5 down and 1-2 up. I added a wifi booster about 2 weeks ago and have actually seen a little bit of an increase but not gonna hold my breath due to the multiple stories I have read about the shitty NIC in the PS4

 

Everything I'm reading is saying something about blocking a certain IP, and a bunch of technology computery talk I don't understand. I'm trying to find a fix.

 

If you find something specific. I have my modem custom configured with the appropriate ports opened and forwarded for the "optimal settings" for what the PS4 needs and my speeds still struggle.

 

well all the "fixes" I'm seeing just say to change your Primary and Secondary DNS to the Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4) but that still only gets me a couple megabytes on download and maybe 1 on upload.

 

Yep, I have tried that as well and it was only a temporary fix for me. I may have to end up looking into the process of upgrading the NIC. I have read where some folks have done it and it was daylight and dark difference.

BTW, do you play anything on your PS4 or use it strictly for its media capabilities?

 

I play, but don't have much as of right now. Battlefront would be my main online game. Then I like to play the story mode games like Last of Us and Uncharted. I got really tired of games like COD.

 

I did too at some point. Maybe because they started to just plain suck, in my humble opinion. But I'm getting the itch back. Hopefully the one this year will bring back that magic it used to have.

Still playing on the Division a little bit. Kinda excited for Wildlands.

 

I don't know either of those games you've mentioned lol. I'm looking forward to The Last of Us Part 2 this year. Seriously the best game I have EVER PLAYED.

 

Really? Hmm. I never looked into it much. Maybe I will.

 

It's a story mode game. I believe it has an online play as well, but it's definitely known for its story.

 

I just can't get into anything Star Wars(still haven't seen all the movies). Haven't heard of Last of Us, and I still need to finish the Uncharted series(beat all of them except 4). Yea COD is so over done now, not to mention the type of gamers on there are annoying as hell. I have The Division on PS4 and have quickly learned that you just cant play that game alone and finding decent randoms to play with are few and far between. In all honesty, my PS4 has basically collected dust as of late, as well as my xbox. The xbox gets turned on every day since I have my TV routed through it, but I haven't played much of anything lately.

 

Man I've had ps4 pull 200+ on gig installs. This is all news to me.

I'm about to try hardwire just for the hell of it. really don't want it moved to my living room yet, but I guess since it's going to one day I might as well.

 

It may not work I don't know. But it's worth a shot.
