pardon my noob-ie-ness, Why would someone need these bump stops and what do they provide over the stock ones? In other words, do i "need" these for my truck?

OH crap. I answered the wrong question lol.

They are just an upgraded bump stop.

Not really a big deal unless you are hitting them (sweet Jumps) and stuff

    OR

If you mall crawl hard af like me, they are 'needed'

You are not supposed to reuse U-bolts after they were used!

Drive around with allot of weight? Do you off-road on trails that make your suspension articulate allot? These bumpstops protect your vehicle from overload and overflex damage.

The extended ones for the bolt flip are horribly expensive. Will be fine and they can't be seized after maybe four weeks of use...

Totally unrelated, if I use axle-angle shims with a block: Do i need longer pins for the springs or do you think it will be fine if I put them in between axle and block?

I would try and find the shims that bolt to the springs using the center pin. I'd have to see how much of the pin is contacting the axle before I could determine if it was acceptable.
