Its not a legit skid plate, but there is plenty of protection.

Uh oh, someone's about to be locked front and rear. Must be time for more light bars......jk

Got my smaller intercooler in to fit inside my bumper more comfortably. Not looking forward to dropping the front diff again but you gotta do what you gotta do,

Have you considered losing the IC all together? With your pre turbo methanol you should be fine. I've been pondering it for a while now since I have a cooling mist kit just chilling in my engine bay.

I think it would be badass if you could satoshi the grill and get the IC to fit behind it. It would take a lot of trimming and more than just the grill but it would be pretty slick and in my case would cut like 3 feet from my charge pipes.

I just discovered this company, siliconeintakes.com, based in the springs. They have a ton of useful little pieces that are difficult to track down.

I wouldn't get rid of it even with methanol. Even when you aren't boosting, the turbo is still compressing air (during moderate driving) and keeping pressure in your charge pipes, which still produces a lot of heat. Most meth kits kick on at 2ish psi, so there is still plenty of heat to cause issues and performance loss.

One can never have too many light bars... though your Mexican neighbors might start calling your truck a Christmas tree like mine lol

Decent kits are much more sophisticated than what you described. Mine can be set to MAP, any upper and lower bracket, with 10 increments of duty cycle. I'd have to see actual numbers to make any statements about low to no boost IATs but I doubt they're anything to be concerned about, especially in Colorado. If I ever get around to it I'll be sure to record pre and post IC numbers. I think I will attempt to stuff an IC in my grill first though since the only reason I'd consider losing it for meth alone would be to get a tube bumper on.

Granted a 4runner but still. Shows you it's possible. Then you could rock a winch still.

Im actually surprised none of you have done this yet really. Seems way more practical to me.

1st coat primer. Remounting IC. Liking the size of the new IC much better than that 1000hp IC I had on before.

It's a pain in the butt to do that spot. I might be able to do it once I get rid of the factory hood latch. If we only had the room of 2nd gen tacoma's

Looks like he has an electric fan, no a/c, and no radiator possibly.....? A LOT was removed to put that there. Theres no clean way to run the charge pipes for that. How he did it it I don't know? Its doable but might be messy with more bends. The lower your IC and further from the bay the cooler the air. Not like it would make much a difference. Would be more convenient for bumper/winch options for sure.

My AEM kit is MAP controlled, with an adjustable starting point of 1 to 10 PSI. My intake temps WITH an intercooler get up to 20 degrees hotter than ambient just cruising in vacuum, so the heat is still there. Mind you, you wouldn't want to spray all of your meth through the MAF, which would result in the MAF seeing the heat from the non-intercooled charge air which would result in retarded ignition timing even though the air going into the engine is ice-cold due to the methanol. a setup that goes MAF>methanol nozzle>turbo>pipes straight into the throttle body without an intercooler would be the best way to avoid the intercooler and still have all your power. There would be hardly any volume of air to surge the turbo and spray the meth back through the MAF too, since the charge pipes would be so short.

Josh, does your AFR gauge ever go to 10 or 11 while your cruising on the highway close to or slightly below 0 psi? It seems like my MAF kinda like "gives up" because it doesn't like to be pressurized in closed loop. It doesn't do that with the MAF pre-turbo.

This is coming out amazing. Totally happy with things so far. I have a hitch mounted shackle and will be getting a hitch mount winch. Bucked and pulled on it hard with my girlfriends Jeep Grand Cherokee and it's solid...... just a view of how it's mounted. Once it's painted and the intercooler goes back in all that will disappear.
