Hey guys, just picked up a new 2017 black trd sport DC 4x4. Traded up from a 2013 silver sr5 Texas edition 2wd. I've already got new wheels, tires, 3 inch lift, trd pro grill, and tint lined up to be installed next week. I've gotten so much good info and ideas from Tacoma world I want to give back and document all my upgrades, with prices and descriptions of everything for anyone else to reference. Will include pics of everything as it comes along.

My 2013 sr5 the day I picked it up

I'll all ears, what other lift kits would you reccoment? The shop I went to does all the lifts for 2 local toyota dealerships and told me that's the lift they use on all Tacomas and they haven't had any compaints. I'm no lift expert and would appreciate all reccomendations. Please tell me price points for parts as well as all off-road shops around me are quoting about $400-$500 for installation, and alignment with 6 month warranty. Total I'm spending $805 on the readylift, and it's a 3in lift with 3/2 front/back. Thanks a lot.

So.... here the list of upgrades

    1. 3 inch ready lift: 3inch/front - 2inch/back because I throw a Honda 4wheeler in the bead and it makes the bed squat a bit, otherwise I would had done a 3-1 lift.
    2. 275/70/17 BF Goodrich AT KO2's
    3. Toyota TRD 17 matte black wheels
    4. 2017 Trd pro grill
To me it came out exactly as I wanted. Could have got bigger tires but on the trd 17x7 wheel discount tire will only warranty 275's as 285's and bigger reccomend a 7.5 or wider wheel.

If anyone is interested I'm selling the factory sports grill and bezel for $80 shipped and the Toyota Tacoma sport labeled floor mats for $90 shipped as well. I'm trying to see if anyone in the houston area wants to trade running boards too. Mine had the shark running boards and Id like to find the regular all black textured nerf bars running boards to trade. Otherwise I'd consider predator steps and some cash in top from me. Thanks guys

Well, nothing but good things for me. My sr5 was 2wd and now the trd sport is 4x4 which was the biggest difference for me. I have the black and orange interior which is 10x better than my old grey interior, the technology is significantly more sophisticated, lots of bells and whistles that I actually use: power rear window, power outlet in truck bed, voice command, in dash screen with tps monitoring etc... Powertrain wise it feels the same as the sr5 but the suspension felt better and smoother. I did install a 3inch lift and bigger tires and the ride smoothness has not changed! I only feel a difference when going over bumps. For the first 850miles I got 19mpg them with the lift and tires im getting 16mpg and have driven 300miles since installation. That's something to consider if your planning on upgrading. So overall, to me, it looks much better inside and out, which I think is very important when you spend $35k on a new vehicle, and my ride quality has improved over my old truck as well. I love everything about it and wouldn't change anything. Just sucks how much money you can easily spend upgrading these trucks! Lol

from what I've been reading, the upgraded interiors are getting much praise.

good to know you're happy with the new gen

Couldn't be happier, loved the sr5, and love the new sport even more. I don't think you could go wrong with either gen

probably leaning toward 2nd gen again when I jump back into one, shouldn't be TOO crazy of a price tag I'm hoping.

although, I made money when I traded mine in lol
