After Katrina there was a gut standing on the corner with a sign that said need money, will work for food...
My buddy pulled up and said, "How about $10 an hour"?, the guy said yeah that would be great, but I have no transport... My buddy goes, "just turn around and look across the street" and there was a sign at Popeyes that said workers needed urgently, $10 per hour. My buddy goes that is a good deal because you get free chicken as well, to which the guy goes, F-you and F-off...

I don't give them any money because we have so many services down here that we are paying for and when you give, you just perpetuate the issue, JMO...

There use to be a guy around here that would sit on the corner with a sign that said "Don't need money. Just want to see people smile."

One of the local municipalities had a bunch of panhandlers showing up on medians and streetcorners over this past summer. People were complaining but the town took the position of "they're not hurting anybody, we'll let them do it"
Well, apparently one of them was a little off in the head and started trying to open people's car doors while they were parked at the traffic lights. Lo and behold, the city almost immediately passed ordinances prohibiting panhandling.

Edit- Oh man, it gets better! Apparently somebody took the city to court and won, that they couldn't ban panhandling on the medians within the city limits. So the city said "OK then..." and just removed the medians!

I dunno. Maybe he was looking to open up a new dentist office and wanted to see if it was worth it. He did sit outside Walmart a couple times.....

Panhandlers can make decent money, and most of them do it for that reason, which is why I give them nothing.

Had one that asked for a couple dollars so he could buy a beer. Have him $5 for being honest. Saw him walk out of the store with a beer and a bag of chips.

The city just busted a ring of six of them. All collecting disability, sharing an apartment. Apparently, they were too infirm to work but NOT too infirm to panhandle professionally.

The social security administration is reviewing their award now. I suspect some someones' disability is about to end!

Couple weeks ago got out of the truck heading to early church with my wife. Guy on the sidewalk asks for money to get a cup of coffee. I offered for him to come with us the half block to the church welcome center where we have fresh free coffee and have an active outreach to the homeless.

Wanna guess whether he came with us?

More money than sense. And more money spent on truck than their living space.

Did you see the news item on the guys in Lakeview a couple years ago? They get dropped off by some dude and he collects a percentage. And they're not homeless. Just taking money.

He's just preserving the interior with a protective layer of dirt.

Self-applying, self-maintaining, matches any interior decor
