Forgive my ignorance, but what can you run off a 12V power supply? I've been wanting to add an outlet and a small tire pump.

Stuff that's 12v and draws under the amperage of the wire/fuse capacity you installed.

Not trying to be smart, that's a real answer. Lots of accessory products you can find, particularly if you have a cap that you are trimming out as a 'living' space.

Unless you're an idiot and put a 30amp fuse on a 16 gauge wire.

    Not kidding I've seen it.

Does the 2016+ have a 7 pin trailer connection? You could tap into the power wire there, its usually pretty large and if can power a trailer it can power some lights. or whatever.

If it has a tow package it has a 7 pin connection, but it is a switched 12v source. If you want a "always hot source" you need to run a new line.

Solid advice right there. I was looking for a quick fix and as I feared there really isn't one. :) I've wired boats before so understand what needs to be done. Was just hoping that someone would pipe in and say there was a heavy duty hot wire run all the way back there that would be easy to tap. No such luck. Thanks!

Revisiting this post. There is a West Marine going out of business and I can get the wire and fuse box for 1/2 price. :)

Since there are some nice AGM batteries also at 1/2 off - I'm considering putting a battery in the bed and running the 2AWG to the battery (with a cut off switch). Then I can have an isolated system that I can switch off while I'm using - and switch back on when the truck is running to charge it up.

Like I said earlier - I've (re)wired boats and this is how we did it back in the day. Any thoughts or other ideas? Since I can do it for 50% of the normal cost thought I might give it a go. The AGM batteries may be gone tomorrow but right now that's an option.

    Hello,
I am looking to install the item linked below (or something similar to that which is good quality) in the bed of my '15 TRD O/R above the passenger side cubby/OEM power outlet. I like that it has a built in power switch. I'm open to any recommendations on other products as well. My bed has a tonneau cover if that makes a difference.

Amazon.com: Linkstyle 4 in 1 Marine Switch Panel, 12V 4.2A Dual USB Charger Socket Power Outlet & LED Voltmeter & Cigarette Lighter Socket & LED Lighted ON Off Rocker Toggle Switch for Truck Car Marine Boat RV: Automotive

I want to power it directly from the battery. I know that I need to run a wire from my battery's (+) terminal to the switch panel & then run another wire from the switch panel to a good "ground" location on the chassis. I also need to run a fuse (near the battery) on the (+) wire. I also want to run an LED light kit for the bed.

    Here are my questions:

What gauge (+) & (-) wire should I run? It's a good distance from the battery to the panel so I know it has to be thick enough as to not lose power.

How can I power my LED bed lights from this panel? I don't want to have to run a second (+) power wire from the batter to the bed just to power the lights. I'm hoping that 1 power wire will work for the 12v outlet panel & the lights.

How many amps does the inline fuse have to be?

Can it be a circuit breaker instead of an inline fuse? I already have a 60 amp circuit breaker that I am not using but if it isn't the correct amperage I can always buy another one. I'd rather go the circuit breaker route than a fuse.

I appreciate any help/advice that you (or anyone reading this) can provide. I am not "electronics" friendly.

You can just splice into what’s already there, many have done it. Or, get one of these
