I dont.see this as toyota bashing. I see this as a corporation stepping up to the plate and and looking into ALL the complaints theyr loyal customers have. These issues are a SAFETY consern, not a rattle behind the dash..... I am glad to.see them recognise this issue, i have had it happen to me

Any numbnuts call internet a complaint into the NTSA
what is a valid number of complaints ?
    100 ?
    1000 ?
    10,000 ?

before it is a real problem ?

IMO the mat deal wasn't a problem ..... it was stupid at work

I have driven Grand Cherokees and let me tell you the gas pedal is close to the brake and countless times I accelerated when braking because I have size 12 Wide feet ......... this isn't even a mention ..... anywhere why ???
    It is all bull

And before someone mentions it - NO I DO NOT HAVE A WIDE STANCE :)

I havent had the stock mats since i bought it, that rules that out. And yes, i thought it may have been my foot hitting the gas pedal while braking. When i noticed the rpm's increasing, i took my foot off all the pedals and the rpm's continued to climb.

I agree, I am annoyed at our local news channel. They have a special slot in their news just for the Toyota "crisis" They have it run in like they did when covering the Gulf war. The drama music and all.

If Toyota is implementing an investigation into the matter, what's wrong with reporting it? Ignoring the fact isn't going to make it go away, and reporting FACTS isn't exactly bashing.

    Here is my honest belief.
Higher ups in Toyota America probably tried sweeping it under the rug. Didn't work and got caught. NTSB looking into all this and discovering serious safety concerns. Head honchos in Japan find out that Toyota America has problems. Everything comes clean.
Toyota does not like law suits. Thats why they stopped making grill guards because of one law suit for soemone who wasn't even wearing a seat belt but possibly could have lived if guard hadn't kept air bags from deploying.

I see you point, but it just seems like the reason why toyota has so much media coverage right now is because it causes so much controversy.

all the die hard american truck guys vs. the toyota guys.....there has always been something going on there and now that toyota has a an issue like this certain people just love to jump on it.

IMHO thats what causes the bashing. it's not what the news says, but the guys who watch the news channel and then think they know all the facts:rolleyes:
