Was just reading that same thread....there is now talk of possibly using 4Runner spindles. Something having to do with how they are made and the "different" process.
It was brought up because, we hardly ever hear of 4Rnr spindles failing.

It could be a difference, but I cant see why it would be if they're all coming from the same place in mexico. They might never fail because more people with 4rs don't do some of the harder stuff Tacoma's tend to hit.

Just weld on one for 10 minutes then the other for 10 minutes and keep alternating until they are both done.
I've ran bilstein and icon, can't tell a difference really. Also if you want a better ride with the dakars just add 200 lbs in the bed or remove the 3rd / overload leaf from the pack.

That's what I told them....:smack:.....don't see many 4Rnrs flying through the desert.

But they went onto talking about the different metal and processes and since they have to be stronger for the v8's...and whatnot.

Risky business posting in there. The hard part is actually pin pointing the root cause. What they don't really consider are the thousands of factors played into each persons modifications that affect the geometry of the front end. Saying it's the metal treatment process without really investigating the issue is like saying "that piano fell on his head because its heavy, not because they used an underrated rigging strap".

I love how it rides, with significant weight...it feels like a magic carpet...super smooth. I have a toolchest in the back, but obviously, it isn't enough.
The only aftermarket shocks that I have had are the current Bilsteins. Do you think a "better" brand would make a difference, specifically in the rear? A shock with a reservoir?

Shock with reservoir doesn't really help with dampening abilities from what ive read, just helps keep the shock cooler for longer when taking whoops like a mad man.

A few months ago, I was even thinking of buying the extra Dakar leaf and adding it tot hr leaf pack. I might just be better off with airbags, for the weight that I sometimes carry.

I had forgotten about that. It all might change, once I get the rear bumper.
How do your OME's ride, with your rear, @Jamart5 ?

Have you taken it off any sweet jumps?
I used to jump the train tracks, by the cement place, by Lamar @Chopper678 . My fronts might be gone.

get the Dakars if you plan on hauling/towing often.............and if you want to feel like you are driving on a cobble street everyday.
