EGR VALVE NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE, 3.4 Tacoma with supercharger,

    Ok so I'm stumped, I rebuilt my supercharger 30,000 miles ago and now it has a high pitch noise coming from it, I sent it back to the rebuilder and they said the inside of the charger
    looks like it's over heating and packed with carbon from to much heat. So the EGR valve is not working correctly, staying open or not closing all the way and letting to much hot exhaust that is burning the oil fumes into carbon and caking the rotors and now the carbon covered rotors are kissing each other from buildup making a weird noise.
    So I called Toyota for a new EGR and they have discontinued this part and I can't find any aftermarket companies that make it either, this EGR valve part number was used on some tacomas 3.4 v6 from 1996-2000, anybody know a source to get a new EGR valve?

    Yea these are all Toyota dealerships and the main Toyota distributorship warehouse is now out of stock, dealerships are out of inventory, I paid for one in a cart
    and the Toyota dealer contacted me and said they were not able to get this EGR unit anymore. All the Toyota dealers that I googled are out of stock and are not made anymore, they just have not taken down the part from the site or updated not available, the parts come from there main facility in Kansas I believe. I know I can probably find one used as a last choice.

    Gettin used isnt always the greatest but there is always the junkyard parts sellers. You'll find one just get creative if need be.

    Good idea, I will see what he has to say, I didn't see any EGR for sale on his site. I'm thinking he might say to delete the EGR system or use a blocking kit for the exhaust to the EGR shown here if I can't find a new one.

    The EGR valve itself is rarely bad. It's more likely clogged passages, a bad modulator or VSV.

    Before replacing the EGR valve, check that the diaphragm holds vacuum and that the applied vacuum opens the valve. There's not much to it. If it tests good then look elsewhere for the fault.

    Look at some of the newer 3.4 The valve might very well be the same!!

    Different part number for the same part .

    I have had this happen quite a few times

    Unfortunately the only EGR Valve that will fit is from 1996-2000 Tacoma with the 3.4 v6 because of how the exhaust pipe is connected to the back of the EGR To the exhaust header and I'm finding out that a used one is impossible to find also, I can't believe this is such an issue and nothing available, I even tried the used route, carparts.com, there are 3 there on this site,but after calling all, none are in stock

    So in 2001 the cross over pipe and exhaust manifolds changed

    Then the ones in the 4Runner won`t fit either .

    I just called my parts guru,Steve at Camelback Toyota parts dept. and you are correct he couldn't find one in the whole country.
    He said the 25620-62050 fits 96-00 V6's with manual trannies only .No updated or alternate part either.

    He said the one for automatics is pn 25620-62060 and were only on the 96-98 2WD's

    That EGR block plate kit is looking better and better.

    Thats really lame when a part becomes non existant and there is completely no way to really source one besides of a junker. Seems most odd that the aftermarket hasn't picked up the slack and hole in the market so to speak. Seems typically they are pretty well on top of that stuff when the oem stops supporting the part.

    John, that part in the link looks to be the ticket.
    But as Dr. Z stated, rarely is it the actual EGR valve that fails. Unless the diaphragm is torn or has a hole, you can usually clean them to clear out carbon build up, if it does have any. Easy to test though, thank goodness.
