You guys be safe up there this weekend. Looks like Mother Nature's trying to kick some ass.

 

Need more info - Every place is different, so we're gonna need to know what you kids like to do to match you up with a destination. Most places have a little of everything, but each will have two or three characteristics for which they are particularly known.

All-inclusive or more independent? Limited budget or bust the bank? Large resort or small quiet place? Americanized or more of a foreign experience? More time doing drinks at the pool or more time at the beach. Just sunbathing or snorkeling/diving and other water sports? A nearby city/town with movies, shopping, restaurants, museums? Young crowd/older crowd? Hiking? Golf? Casino?

I used to travel a lot for work so I have millions of miles banked and take a couple vacations a year. I've been to around 20 of the islands, most of them multiple times. You'll need to do some research on your own, but I can at least narrow your search and maybe give you some pointers once you choose a destination.

Recently went to Curacao and did a Snorkel Safari. Six of us on benches mounted in the back of a Hilux and they drove us on some pretty rough trails to otherwise-inaccessible remote natural beaches. Snorkeled each beach for an hour or so then on to the next place. At the end of the day we went to a public beach with showers and a really nice snack bar.

 

She's trying... But this is just winter in New England, she has to do a lot better than this!

 

Think outside the box and look into Tenerife.(Canary Islands)

 

I bet you could get some good deals to Syria or Lebanon right now. I've heard they both have beautiful beaches

 

They stayed on the Dutch side of St. Maarten. There is the French side too but they didn't go over there. Said it was a resort but can't think of the name..

 

I tend to use engine braking when I can. I just think the ABS is too sensitive.

When I think female owned, I picture dents and scratches everywhere. Especially when the driver is Asian. Maybe this is the real reason she's not driving it often

 

Cupcake typifies this statement. Irks me to no end..plus spills coffee all over the place. Takes me 3 times as long to detail her Rav4 as it does my truck. Not like kids ever ride in it..my sister's SUV is cleaner with 3 kids. And yes, Cupcake is Asian..

YouTube FTMFW! Snowblower broke and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Entered the symptoms and found a YouTube video of a guy fixing the same make and model as mine, got mine back up and running in about 30 minutes

 

So what broke?

 

Carb air jet was clogged. I tried new gas and plugs but couldn't get it to run right, couple minutes and a quick cleaning of the jet and I was back in business, didn't even have to take the carb off of the engine, just remove a heat shield.

 

Easy fix is a good fix, plus free

 

Twelve hours later.....the jeep has some new eyes

 

I've been to Aruba twice and loved it both times. It's a reasonably small, safe island which you can go explore. JetBlue offers direct flights to and from (key for me as I loathe flying) and it's only about 4.5 hours.

The beaches can be really nice (although one side of the island is better than others as far as wind is concerned, I can look up the two places I stayed at to give you advice there) and the wind makes the heat bearable. Where I don't drink the all-inclusive aspect wasn't as important for me, but it is nice to not worry about food.

The part you might like is that there is a natural pool (and whole side of the island) you can only access with 4WD. I drove down the side of a mountain in a Jeep (285s, no lift, to boot)

I can't say enough good things. I think our next trip to a tropical area will be something different as a change of pace, but I can't say enough good things about Aruba.

 

Just think of all the naked cannonballz I could do there!!
