Thanks for the info, you made my day. I have communicated to the sales manager several times that they need to manually check my transmission fluid, so we shall see. They havent even built the truck yet. I test drove the automatic, got on it on the on ramp, it seem to have a nice little power band- get up and go. Thanks again, EVEL

If I towed often/ daily, I would not get a Taco. This truck will do it, but there are better tools for that job.

Ahhhh, go old Northern Maine. Miss that place, guess it may be time for a road trip.

None of those tools will fit in my garage. And certainly don't have the resale value.

Okay so I pulled the rip cord and bought a 2017 Access Cab TRD Sport today... manual transmission!

I drove an automatic. Honestly it wasn't bad... shifts were smooth, and the motor ran well at 3000rpm, but there was SUBSTANTIAL shifting/hunting going on. 6th gear was almost pointless.

The salesman said "well, you could just shift it yourself..." yes I know. So I might as well buy a stick.

    Truck arrives Wednesday!

By the way, I got $15250 for my 2011 with 113000 miles... these suckers really hold their value!

You made the right choice. I just traded my 2016 SR-5 Auto (that I bought in Sep), for a 2017 Sport MT and I couldn't be happier...

BTW, that's a solid trade allowance!

    I agree!

To the dealer's credit, I had them by the balls and they knew it. They sent me an "estimated" value of my truck a few weeks ago and they didn't want to honor it today saying "well it's got more mileage, wear and tear, blah blah blah."

I said "you guys called ME. I'm holding all the cards." They backed down without a whole lot of negotiations... very easy buying experience.

only problem with that is the transmission gets better the more you drive it.
I have very little changing gears beside going from 5th to 6th on the highway if I put my foot down to pass someone. But even with slopes, unless its a significant incline, doesn't downshift.

I don't have any problems with the way the auto is.
but there's been times already like today that I wish I had a manual instead.

Congrats OP! I've had my '16 manual for a year and 14,200 KMs now and it's been fantastic. It's fun to drive and does everything I need it to. It tows my 21 ft 5000 lbs travel trailer just fine, even at 70 mph in 5th gear. You won't have a problem with your enclosed trailer at 2000 lbs. Post pics when you pick it up!

The 4cylinders have the 4.30 gearing and shift better. Which makes sense.

Not to get political, but maybe not. There's a new sheriff in town and he doesn't like the EPA.
