Have you ever considered nursing? I just graduated from Clemson's accelerated second degree nursing program this past december. Pay starts around $22/hour (around here) with extra money tacked on for working nights and weekends.

But you'll definitely have to get your bachelor's degree in nursing to make it worth while. Pretty soon 2 year associate's nursing degrees won't get you a job out of school. MUSC has an RN to BSN program that you can enroll into as soon as you graduate from a tech college, and only takes a year (three consecutive semesters), getting you a BSN in 3 years instead of the usual 4.

    EDIT: some more information

The night and weekend shift differential is usually something to the tune of +$3/hour for nights and +$8/hour for weekends. So night weekend shifts is +$11/hour. With taxes it's an extra ~$100 to work a night weekend.

    EDIT: more information

There's ton's of options for nursing as well. You can enter into management and manage nursing staff on the floor of a hospital, or you can be part of nursing research which is an increasing field of study. There are also doctorate degree options like nurse anesthesia and nurse practitioner that you can look into way down the line. If you wanna make a stupid amount of money over a short time, you can join a travel nursing agency and they send you to an understaffed hospital. The agency takes care of your living situation, and you have very little expenses. Feel free to ask me anything

Oh yeah, not very many guys do. It took a while to even consider it because I just kept saying that there's no way I would like it at all, and that it was just a crappy job. The more I matured and thought about it and talked to nurses (my dad is a recently retired CRNA) and weighed the pros and cons, it became apparent that it was something worth pursuing. I found that a bad day in nursing wouldn't be enough to make me hate the job. In my experience, I just wish someone talked to me about it sooner, and maybe I wouldn't have had to go to school twice to do what I really wanted to do!!

Definitely suggest talking to him about it. It seemed like a good suggestion since a lot of vet tech classes are pretty similar to nursing classes (biology, chemistry, A&P, microbiology)

I love working on my truck, but I pick my battles. LOL. I have a well reputed, very reasonable mechanic that does my work. I can get dropped off at work, a mile from his shop, work a little OT on one of my projects while he does my truck, and break even or better.

    .

Sometimes you just need to take a few deep breaths.

The brakes were really not that bad, I think I was just having a moment. Been a little stressed lately.
