It just looks like the c-clamp isn't tightened enough, or cross threaded and it seemed like it was torqued?

2X. That should be sung around the rack.

But if it's cross threaded then it most likely will be under-torqued due to the resistance of the nut/bolt not being threaded properly

It felt like it was fine? I started it by hand and it was good then used a ratchet after the bolt and nut became to hard to turn by hand. Ill pull then off and see if it got cross threaded some way.

2 should not make a difference (since no torque wrench is 100% dead on perfect with the next.

I know you already said you installed the bracket the right way, but that's the exactly kind of play I had when I installed the bracket upside down.

Im going to pull that whole bracket off first thing in the morning and remount it with some silicone paste on the threads. Hopefully it is upside down and that will be the end. Ill let you guys know first thing in the morning if it solved the issue. Thanks for that vid! Wish mine was like that rn

Not enough to have a build thread.
I'm about to have to do mine, just noticed all the play. Big question: I'm running 285/75/16s. Those will cause significantly increased resistance when turning. Should the rack still stay pretty still or will it move more?

Thanks for making this thread, it's helping me learn a lot before tackling mine

I would say the rack should never move. Not a millimeter.

So i pulled all bolts and checked all bushings, everything looks perfect. Regreased every nut and bolt as i put them back in by hand making sure nothing is cross threaded. Torqued everything in increments of 20 untill i got to the torque spec. Everything is as it should but the rack still has movement. I laid under the truck as someone turned the wheel and the whole rack is moving slightly back and forth as the wheel is turned. Rechecked that i had the proper bushing kit online and i do. Im stuck.

So the bushings, brackets, and bolts are tight af, but the rack itself still moves???

Yep....i dont understand. The bushings are the correct ones and everything is torqued to 121 ft lbs and the horizontal bolt and nut is 140 ft lbs

It is better but it still moves. More so on the "U" clamp side.

Yep, that's all correct.... Hmmmm...and I can tell you're no spring chicken around automobiles... I did a first gen Tundra, similar design, about a year ago. All new bushings, had tons of lateral play but didn't budge at all with the new poly bushings.
Damn. I dunno. Thinking cap is going on...
