It's a great deal considering the power tank, which is the same thing, is twice the cost. The twin air composites are a lot faster than the singles but now your back to the $500 + range

    Indeed!

Unsure whether or not to get the quick fist clamps though. Might lay it horizontal in my bed tool box- so it wont bump around. Although I believe they must be used vertically.

You can change the valve or something like that so you can use it horizontal. I don't know exactly what it is but I've seen a graphic somewhere

Scuba and dive shops will usually re-certify them. That's where i have taken paintball tanks in the past

    Half an hour?!
I'm able to air all 4 tires from 16-35 in less than 10 minutes. They must have a small compressor. Last time we were out wheeling, i filled two trucks completely with my twin, in the time it took my buddy with a single to air 3 tires completely and start on the 4th.
It's all about getting the right compressor for what you'll be using it for. A single is fine for lockers but I'd definitely go with a twin if you plan on airing up oversized tires like we all have.

There are usually multiple people who need to fill tires and what not haha. 10 minutes sounds about right for 4 tires. Maybe 15

Yeah I'm not sure exactly how I'll mount it but I heard they need to be vertical as well

Went with a single ARB (CK12?) with the Slee mount, which was really clean. The wiring from ARB was perfect. Just use it to air up, put a chuck behind front bumper and use a hose that reaches the rear tires no problem, really easy. First pic is just to show truck, in it's favorite place, Baja!truck 1.jpg air 1.jpg air 2.jpg

These pics are before I hooked up the line and pressure switch. Might run a line to the back if I get motivated.

Has anyone ever mounted a pressure switch on the bottom of the tank?

I didn't realize at the time when I mounted mine that the instructions says not to do so. What are the concerns other than ruining a pressure switch?
I don't feel like remounting my tank in a different location right now because it's cold out.

Thats the worst place to put it, IMO. Water and debris can accumulate and interfere with its function. If it fails to shut of the compressor, either the tank or an air line with fail suddenly.

I've looked at putting one in that location. Any sign of it melting the plastic?

What if I put the switch on an air line and mounted up above the tank, would that be ok?

    Here's my setup right now

I'm running what looks like the same tank with my 444c. Just installed the compressor today. Put it behind the back seat on the driver side (removed the small storage). I am mounting my tank underneath bolted up to the bed. It will be at the very front of the bed beside the gas tank, there is a perfect spot for it to tuck up out of the way. Going to run my air horn feed hose directly from the tank with a 90* fitting. Feed from the compressor will be going into a 45* fitting. Another 45* on the other end will put another line going back on the inside of the passenger side frame rail to a quick disconnect fitting that will be mounted below my bumper.

@jamiec, what you can do is run a line from the fitting that is on the side of the tank (facing the side of the bed) to a distribution block (manifold) and mount your pressure switch to the block. I'd say run it towards the compressor and mount the block to the side of the bed behind the leader hose. That will get it off the bottom of the tank and also into a spot that is less likely to be damaged by stuff in the bed.

Thanks for the info! I'm extremely new to onboard air so I am learning as I go. I'll check lowes out tomorrow and see if I can find what you're talking about. I've never seen an air distribution block so I'll have to look into it. If you could share a link to one I'd greatly appreciate it.

I like your idea a lot, its better than my idea. I was going to remove the tank from the bedside, switch the tank 180° and mount it to the bed floor. That way the pressure switch will be on its side and it would be inside the cubby that my air lines are running through.

Ebay, Amazon are good places to look. Look down in the "products discussed in this thread". "Aluminum rectangular manifold" for reference. You can get one with however many ports you want, just make sure it is the right size for whatever airline you want to use.
If all you plan to use it for is the switch, you can skip the block and get 1/4" push to connect fittings. Use a 90* fitting on the tank (if your is the same as mine, you will need 1/4" NPT) then get a female NPT push to connect fitting to mount on the pressure switch. Run 1/4" airline from the 90* to the pressure switch. I'd still say mount it behind the leader hose.

Ah, even better! The port facing the bedside has my check valve right now. So I'll just move it to where the pressure switch is now and get the 90° to put back there and run it as you just mentioned.
Thank you so much for your help!!
