What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Put the beadlock rings back on the truck today. Anybody else switch between having them off/on every so often like me? Some days I just go out and think it would look better with just black wheels for now haha (shoutout to Quicktrip lighting)

 

Worked on the OBA a little. Got everything wired (except tank pressure switch). Waiting for a couple more fittings to get here before I put the tank in. For now, the wiring for the pressure switch is just looped so I could test the compressor how I have it wired. I'll put carpet over the RAAM mat later.

 

I rolled my deadener over the holes too and just left the ovals there lol

 

I have some black vinyl sitting around... can this be done with that? Any tutorial links handy anywhere?

I just slit the deadener then folded it in through the holes. Figure if its gonna be there, might as well use it to help with the vibes. When I put the deadener on originally, I only used strips and put them in the recesses and on the cross bar. When I decided to put the compressor there and take out the tray, I went ahead and added more to cover the whole thing since my sub is under the back seat infront of where the compressor is now.

Ugh. Had a helluva day. Went fishing and exploring today. While out in the woods, at some point I picked up a nail or something in the driver front tire. It went flat while driving. Simple tire change right?

WRONG.

Either my OEM bottle jack is broken or its just too short after lifting my truck (5100s at .85, Eibachs, & 1/4" top plates). Ive owned my truck for almost 4 years now and this was the first time using the jack. 100% my fault for not making sure it worked right and worked with the lift. I paid the price for that. Of course it was cold and wet and dark out when the tire went flat. I had already walked probably 5 miles fishing today so I was tired. After fighting with the jack for what seemed like forever, the jack wouldnt lift the truck high enough to get the tire off the ground no matter where I placed it. I was 75 miles from home in the middle of the woods. I spent 45 minutes digging a 3" deep hole the size of the tire with the pointy end of the tire iron so I could get the flat tire off and the new one on. Fortunately I was on gravel and it had warmed up enough during the day to melt the snow and thaw the ground or Id still probably be out in the woods tryin to come up with a plan. Luckily I have a matching spare and luckily it wasnt low (I hadnt checked the air in since last summer).

LESSON LEARNED.

Tomorrow Im gonna see whats up with the tire and hopefully get it plugged. I really dont wanna have to buy 2 new Duratrac. Im gonna see wtf is up with the jack, and lastly, I think Im gonna invest in a compressor and a DIY plug kit.



Pro tip of the week - make sure your jack works properly and can lift your truck high enough to remove the tire.

 

So I'm pretty drunk haha which second gen do u have? I like the look of the bumper winch but I have an 09 and I'm looking for a good option

Yup. Put the add-a-fuse in a blank spot I had in my fuse panel.

 

were you jacking at the frame or the axle. easier to jack the axle up, less distance required

Indeed. Easy peasy. Asked my pops for help, and I was actually the one that figured it out before he did!
