It's stock except for the Trac Rac and DU seat covers _-:)
I do tend to stand on the tailgate. It sounds like I need to deal with that right away.

A lot of people say to reinforce the tailgate. I have loaded a Honda rancher (500lb+) multiple times in the bed without much issue. So Idk if people are scared by a little flex or what...

I've had mine since 2010 and I've had no issues with the plastic bed.

The only way you're gonna damage it is if you're trying to haha

On of my co-workers put his grill on it at a tailgate, that didn't work out.

Use caution when shovelling around wheel wells. Use as a truck.

You have a '13. The later tailgates (like yours) are a bit stronger than the early 2nd gens. It's not the plastic gate liner cracking as much as it is the whole gate buckling. I've see several photos of early models buckled, but not later ones. Not saying it can't happen, just saying again, don't panic.

If you intend to 'abuse' it, I do agree that a replacement plate and an angled top rail will make it stronger. It also makes it heavier, so hang on when you open it.

A couple of our forum sponsor vendors sell nice bits for this, so shop around and look for a sale.

the bed is fine... it's the tailgate you should worry about.

If you're comparing it to a regular truck then yes, you made a mistake. It's not up to the task of hauling anything more than a 1/4 yard of dirt. If that. Not to mention your springs will flatten. Aluminum beds will hold up ten times better than these trucks. It's not really a truck. It's a car with a bed on it. The new ridgeline will put a Tacoma to shame. It's a vehicle made for helping someone move and you have boxes full of blankets.

The Line-X guy here where I live said he did it for his mother in law so it can be done but he dont really want to, he said its more prep work than its worth to him. Not sure if you have an Arma bed place where you live but its pretty much the same thing as Line-X, anyway they told me, yah bring it on down they'll do it for me.

I've thrown a lot in the bed and not been gentle about it, the only thing I've noticed (in the actual bed) is some scratches and small gouges when I had 400 pounds of metal in there for a week and it slid around a bit causing the marks (I don't have any type of liner).

I did set an engine on the tailgate and regret that as there were some crunching and cracking noises. Now every time I step up onto the tailgate it creaks a bit, no notable visual distortion nor cracks.

...and before someone mocks me for the engine on the tailgate, it was a small 4 cylinder engine, bought it from a guy and we had to manually load it, so resting it on the tailgate then getting into the bed to finish loading it was our only option.

Pull the plastic skin off and you'll see what needs fixing. Or modifying/fixing.

I'll bet you just broke some of the 'glue' stuff they attach the bracing with. Kinda like the underhood stuff.
