Is there no keyholes in the aluminum track to run screws up into the header ?

 

No, but there will be soon. They have the track screwed to the wood assembly above. Since there are screw heads already there I don't have to worry about interfering with the mechanism, so I'll drill some holes. I'll run 3" screws through the assemby into the header (bridging the gap). Do you think I should add some blocks in the gap or will the former will be good enough? If I don't overdue it there shouldn't be any warping by pulling the assembly up... Famous last words.

So, i was told to come post this in here.what all has to be done to fix it? and any ideas on how much this is gonna cost? house is in Anne Arundel county, MD, for reference.


shitty P/O enclosed the carport to make an office without putting sill plates in, and as a result water is now leaking in and has ruined the carpet and drywall in that room. im also assuming no permits were ever pulled.

 

Our garage had a room built on when we bought our place. Had the same thing happen after a couple years. Inspector missed the total disregard for accepted building practices. We had to tear down the build on.
Not a total loss. It is the south face of the garage and we have a garden there now.

 

I'd start with drainage. Gutters in place or is it the gable end of the house?
You may need to put in a French/footer drain. I wouldn't replace anything till u get water source figured out/diverted lol

 

I've been saving up slash piles for over year due to the drought and subsequent fire danger. Finally, conditions allowed for a burn. No matter how many times I do this, I'll never get over how quickly all those piles of branches are reduced to one smoldering pile of ashes.

 

You ain't kidding! We did ours last week. Husband was saying it was too late in the day to start... I'm like, just give me an hour honey, it'll be gone. I promise.

 

I started at 0700 because we have high winds forecasted later today. Wanted to get it done before it started blowing embers into my neighbors' yards.

 

So we were finally able to get back at it today after losing all of last week and the previous Thursday / Friday to snow

The 2x6 framed wall will be offset 2" toward the interior of the foundation wall

The 8" foundation wall from exterior to interior has an 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" cant strip outboard , our rebar grid , the seismic hold down redi rod is 4" in , the 5/8" x 8" anchor bolts go inboard of the redi rod at the locations indicated with green spray paint , then there is a 6 1/2" x 1 1/2" XPS styrofoam strip cast in that will act to insulate the slab edge of the heated slab

So once the 2x6 wall plate is on , offset 2" towards the interior , the outside of the 1/2" sheeting is flush to the upper edge of the cant strip , and the 1 1/2" styro strip is hidden under the wall and interior drywall / baseboard

10" wall in the foreground with cant strips on both sides of the wall is exterior to the building , 8" wall has the styro and is the exterior wall of the conditioned space of the house

for around the wood stove. I already have flooring to match the spare bedroom. Once all
The flooring is done, I have to mill rough cut for the unfinished wall and facing brick for block wall.

 

What kind of ceiling fan is that? Thats awesome.

 

So there I was, weeding my front yard, minding my own business, when a truck drives by then stops. Guy rolls down the window and says, "Hey, we're finishing up an asphalt job a couple blocks away and have enough extra to do your driveway. Normal cost is $3.50 per square foot, I'll do it for you for $2." I now have something I was planning on doing anyway for about $1,500 cheaper.

 

We were just getting quotes on our driveway approach and driveway today... I am NOT liking the prices so far.

 

I was originally going to buy some compactable road base, rent a plate compactor, and do it myself. This just fell into my lap.

 

Sorry. Just cant bring myself to like this post. Our 200 yard long drive is a shit mess from the rains and looking at culvert pipes, grading, and road base... I'm quite a whole lot jealous right now.
