good to hear that the engines will go a long way. 83k miles makes me happy. I looked at newer (2005+) trucks with 150k+ miles for around the same price but.... i like the 1st gens and like low miles even better. Mileage to me is more important than age.

Im getting my wife a 1st gen soon. I've been slacking on it as she is not interested in a 4runner at all. Finding the superchargers is getting to be a real pain. I should not have sold my extra unit. but i did it for the tent and new all pro rack! it was an easy sale and now i have the tent i want so......

Looks ok but i think she doesn't want an suv?? With all the rust issues out there on the 1st gens im just waiting for the right one! see 4 of my brothers are mechanics and we can swap a frame out in our shop in 1 day! we can do full motor swaps in 4 hrs at our shops and we have 2 of them and 6 mechanics on payroll. we also get dealer price on parts and a friends and family discount. (my 1 brother is a mechanic for toyota). HHmm i need to see what i can get a 1st gen frame for my price? I had my frame restored and reinforced in 2009 and i just had more frame work done in the rear 2 yrs ago to add battery and brace the rear frame as one piece because this rig carry's 1,800 lbs over the stock truck configuration. God if i had more money i would have toyota's coming out of my ass! I have a serious motorcycle ADDICTION and it takes ALL my money 6 months of the year!

The Double cab first gen with short bed (5') and the Prerunner 1st gen long bed (6') are the same length overall, same frame, same driveline/engine/tranny components...only real difference is the body/bed config...if you want short wheelbase, the first gen regular cab is the way to go, albeit a bit funny looking when lifted and tired, IMHO...

Indeed. Ran into a guy last summer with a truck nearly identical to mine (all stock '04 Lunar Mist DC TRD V6 4x4 with a different cap). He drove two and half hours and paid around $18k to get it. It had something like 80k miles on it.

Motivated Tacoma buyers will pay a premium for the DCs.

He has the stock bumper too which is a plus for me because the pre runner tube style bumper doesn't really appeal to me

I will definitely be checking the frame out really well. It is in Alabama so shouldn't have to worry about rust too much hopefully. Wait to get the vin so i can run it and see where the truck has been.

    How many miles?

Also AC and Prerunner... The DC and 4x4 drive the price up for sure. Thanks
