:notsure: Dunno? Guess, they just envious they didn't get to wheel, because they didn't want to get their trucks dirty, and got sent to the store to pick up tampons for the misses instead.:mudding:

Sorry you missed it TK! Kinda a last minute decision to go. Was in Santa Teresa dropping of some bike stuff to a friend, and decided nothing to do at home, so went for it. Trails were in good shape. Skills area had some deep mud, but still a lot of fun!

was a bit excessive. i have no filter, good for campfires, bad for interwebs.

there are better places to get stuck after it has been raining, but i believe you, i have been there once and it was a bit muddy, but not enough to stop a run up the hill.

@jAndyMendo last time we wnt there it was clear for 2 days, trails were pretty dry, but it rained in the middle of the night, lightly. Just going up to lookout point there were a couple spots where the truck just started going sideways, one spot at an intersection of trails we had 2 recoveries at and it got a little sketch. I'd go again, but not after a heavy rain like we just had.

When its dry, I agree Hollister is a step up from the mall parking lot, but after a rain, that place is a whole different beast

the one time i went it was sketch up to the lookout, but dry enough to just be sticky and not slide. there was a truck still at the bottom of one of the washouts that wasnt recovered yet, sure it was pulled out over the summer.

The little rocky section right before the final stretch up to the lookout is basically rock crawling at this point. Boulders just poking out now. You can stay hard left at the cliffside and only have to crawl up on one side of the truck, but it still made me nervous AF with open diffs and ATs

I've only been to Hollister twice and had a great time on both occasions. I'd much rather be somewhere in the mountains, on a more challenging trail with a destination, but it took a while to build my truck up to tackle those trails.

Hollister is great because you don't have to wait until your truck is built to handle most of those trails and day trips are easy. Just decent tires and 4wd. Also good for beta testing a new setup (gears, suspension, etc.) before heading into the wilderness.

That being said, there are some great easier trails in the Sierras that don't require full armor and a locker. Corral Hollow comes to mind, but it's covered with snow in winter. I'm sure @jAndyMendo could point out some good ones.

Hope to see some of you guys out on the trail soon!

Indeed. But it wouldn't be TW without responses that are clusters of the fuckery variety. There's only so many times people can talk about "what's the biggest tire I can run", "which oil should I use", "what's the best lift" and "if you didn't buy a Tacoma...what would you buy?".

When the novelty of that wears....it's easier for some people to just be dicks.

Agreed. You can have some fun out there when you can't afford the time to leave the area. Skip ahead to about 1:30.
