Yeah I knew that for sure.

We were planning a move to CO at some point, but the school she is going to is in Greenville. Probably try to move back to CO or CA after. But it should be a cool change of pace.

 

Greenville is pretty cool. Things to do and close to off road parks

Moved from Fresno to the Lowcountry of SC...it's a huge change. It's like going 80 on the 5 and hitting a 25mph school zone.

It's really not that much cheaper to live here either...at least for me it wasn't. Sure some things like housing dropped but other things like insurance (more than doubled) and yearly vehicle tax bullshit (if you drive anything other than a 22 year old piece of shit with 300k miles on it) negate the "savings".

It'll be a huge culture shock, one that took me a while to get over...but there are a lot of good people out here.

 

If I can pay less than 2k for a 1000 sq ft 1 bed, it is a big improvement.

I live IN LA, not even around it. So even moving to Fresno would be much cheaper. It's awful rent prices here.

Matt- spent my first 30 years in San Diego. As you can tell- there are a few of us here from Cali.

Greenville is a great place to live; Reedy River falls area is nice with jogging paths everywhere.

Living near Charlotte- my culture shock was all the New Yorkers, lol.

Although it will get hot- Greenville does not have the intense humidity like along the coast near Charleston. Ocean temps here in the summer get into the 80's- very different!

G'ville is also close to Asheville- home to Sierra Nevada brewing-east, lol! Several other brewerys too. (Second Stone Brewery location is in Richmond, VA)

Lots of Ocean, river, and lake fishing/ fly fishing. Kayaking and hiking is very popular here as well.

Like @dan0mite said, the "property tax" fee to license your vehicle is hanous here in SC.

I definitely love living in Greenville. I've been here since August of 2015. School also brought me here; just graduated from Clemson's accelerated nursing program this past December. Greenville is definitely waaaaaaay better than Columbia, where I grew up. It's improved so much over the last 10 to 15 years, and continues to grow. The downtown area is the neatest place and draws people from everywhere. When I used to go to Clemson on campus, my friends and I would drive to Greenville pretty often because it was that cool to us. There's just so many cool places and cool things to do. It's definitely growing and now's the time to get in if you are looking to in my opinion. I'm currently looking for a nursing job here in Greenville and definitely plan to stay for a while.

Thanks man! I wouldn't register my car in Greenville as if only be there less than a year, but everything else sounds awesome.

I love the south from pictures. Looks like my kind of scene. So much area to camp and explore. Plus just a new life experience. Also I ducking love the Falcons and would probably buy season tickets if I move haha.

She's going to a specialty school for programming and implanting cardiac devices.

 

Stick with her man. All our hearts give out sooner or later. She will always have a job.
