    Pretty much stock right now
Long shot here: It's the correct rack, right? Looks right in your vid. Don't know if there is a printed part number on there. There's a foot of snow here or I'd check mine.

Was it always this way, or did it loosen up over time? I've done a few of these, but never saw anything like this. Seems I remember someone some time ago saying the metal inside the bushing was too long on a run of replacement bushing sets which was leading to loose racks. I'd be tempted to get another set of energy suspension bushings and try again.

Yes i replaced both outer tie rods since they needed to be done pretty bad. The suspension bushings i got are Energy Suspension #8.10103R.

Ok :). Kind of sounds like you did have the correct parts. It really shouldn't be moving. Maybe that is not the original rack.

how about this. Do you feel that you did everything the way they explain it in the following video? Did you need to insert the bushings using a hammer/mallet? Did you use the correct bushings?

Just like everyone has been mentioning, if you did the procedure like they are doing so in the video, you should not be having this issue at all whatsoever.

Yes, but i used a style of C clamp to press the new bushings in due to limited space. I am 110% confident that the install was done properly. I think im just going to deal with the slight amount of movement. It is going to the dealership this week to have a front end alignment done so ill ask them to check over all my work one more time and see if they can find anything that i keep missing.

Not enough to have a build thread.
So I just did my energy suspension bushings today. I don't have much (if any) lateral (side to side) play. I have a little bit of forward and backward play (in that C bracket). Stopped by 4WP and asked one of their techs to look at it. He said minor play is normal, if not, the rack would break from excessive rigidity.

And I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my model year being a 2004 but my stud and nut (for the C bracket) were on top, not on bottom like the video showed earlier in this thread. A local Toyota dealer did replace my rack about a year ago, so maybe the Tech did it. I don't think it matters as long as the long side of the C bracket is paired with the bolt. I made sure I put the longer side of the C bracket with the bolt (if you use the short side, the bolt wont bottom out because the threads aren't long enough). Torqued everything to spec. Despite the fact I still have a little play, the steering feels much better and I don't wander anymore.
