Every now and then I feel a thud in the rear diff when coming to a stop. I know it is the downshift but does that indicate too much play in the diff? and why not every time? It's a 16 OR with almost 5k. I'll be asking at my 5k service but I know it won't do it, as if we make this shit up. Dan

I have the same truck with same mileage doing the same thing. Although it doesn't do it all the time, I'm going to take it in.

Mine does the same. Good luck taking it in. Has to be replicated. Doubt it will do it for them since it doesn't happen all the time.

Exactly, its very troublesome that the rear end issues have not been addressed by now.

Tighten the u bolts and check torque on all bolts on the under side of the rear end. My 17 sr5 did the same thing. I Tighten all that up and the clunk when coming to a stop, stopped.

I've done all of this and had the rear diff replaced under warranty. No fix.

Mine only has 7500 miles on it so far and it seemed to fix it for now. Only time will tell

I don't have a go pro so I couldn't film my springs to see if it was axle wrap. Had my mother in law lay in the bed with the tailgate down, hang off the rear bumper and look at the springs to see if it was axle wrap. This time there was a clunk when I took off. Haven't seen her since. dam thing still clunks every once in awhile. Wheel hops when I accelerate on snow so I'm guessing axle wrap. Gonna try a helper spring in the spring to see if it helps.

She is going to be pissed when she finally drags her ass from that ditch you left her in her.

I would also recommend tightening the U Bolts I had the same issue and this worked.

Tried the wife first. Didn't work. thought M-I-L's a little bigger, thought her big bottom would keep her in the bed.

Tried. didn't work. I was hoping it did because that's FREE!
    But No.
DID try extra u-bolts on the springs which makes for no clunk over a month but still wheel hops on loose conditions. They were cheap u-bolts for $10 a pair and they are rusting in the NE winter. So I took them off before they are stuck on there. Experiment worked so I think I'm just going to get the $50 helper springs from Helweig.
