I can understand that. BUT i also think with enough practice you could get 75% of tig learned well. THEN rely on friends and peers to polish the remaining 25. I do think there is a little more to TIG though than MIG and I currently have no desire to pick that up haha

So my welder seems to be taking a shit on me and since it's like over 20 years old or more and was free, I don't have any real desire to try and repair it. So I'm looking for a good suggestion on a good MIG welder that would suit any truck part fabricating needs. I'm already leaning towards the Miller 211, but open to suggestions. I know those are going for about $1150 and if there's something comparable for cheaper that'd be nice too.

    Thanks

I just got a 211 a few weeks ago. Only put a few beads down so far. Its a really nice machine. Ive mostly used my dads little lincoln which always got the job done but the 211 is definitely alot nicer. And they have a rebate going on right now too. Got mine off cyberweld. Best price i could find.

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
I clamp mine to a table and have at it. Other times I clamp the piece in the drill press and use the hole saw on that....Depending on the desired result.

My thermal arc 211i has never let me down, owed it for maybe 5 years now. But Miller's are great, I would've gone with one but thought it would be nice to have tig capabilities also. Most of what used to do for work was tig and it's nice to have the capabilities for fine work.

Still love my old TA 211i. The replacement for them, Esab Rebel machines, are also pretty nice with a few improvements over the TA's.

You're actually the guy who turned me onto them. I had seen them before but hadn't looked into them, thinking they were some Chinese crap, but after you recommended the research I did was all about how solid they were.

That is the best price I have seen. Thanks. And the rebate is going for a little while longer so I've got some time to decide.

Thanks. That looks like a good machine at a good price. Don't think I would ever need the tig capability, but certainly a nice feature. Gonna give it another week or two on looking for a good used one and then bite the bullet and pull the trigger on something.
