I have a new Galaxy S7 Edge with Qi wireless charging capability. I have tried turning on the Qi wireless charging in my 2016 Tacoma, but the phone doesn't charge when I put it on the charging pad. I don't see that any type of setup is required. Should be just turn on and go.

Qi is very sensitive to device placement. Personally, I won't bother with it in a car, since one bump and its off the sweet spot. More trouble than its worth.
I use a Qi pad on my bedside table, because I don't mess with the phone at night and there aren't too many earthquakes in my area to knock it off.

I'd probably try my best to avoid any kind of "fast charging" with anything made by samsung. They don't have the best track record when it comes to keeping batteries from exploding, and fast charging puts a LOT more stress on the battery than slow charging. Fast charging also contributes to shortening the lifespan of the battery.

I've never given my Nexus 6 any more than 500 mA. Now, I'm well over 2 years of ownership and can still dependably get two and a half days on a charge, despite the full 6 inch screen and what is no longer considered a "huge" battery (3200 mAh).
