So it's leaking between the transmission and transfercase?

Ran Yankee Hill for the first time today with a handful of new & familiar faces. Started off the day by arriving at our meetup location, transfer case pissing oil, so got to tear out the sticks and address the gasket in a nice gravel parking lot with a handful of tools. I don't have any photos of the process, but many thanks to @Reh5108 for letting me use his sockets and apologies to the rest of the group for delaying our departure 1 hour.

Made it to the lot to air down and found out my camera didn't charge over night - turned it on w/ 14% battery life. Photos are sparse from today's journey.

    Anyway:

Doggy daycare away from the guns. This was our first day introducing our 13wk pup to guns and she handled it just fine.

After shooting we trekked over the nearby hill to find a large group of Jeeps, a lone Tacoma, and a built GX470 at the base of the trail. We chatted up a couple of the members and were informed that the next stretch of trail was covered in a sheet of ice and only a handful of rigs made it up that day. I hiked up to check it out and determined the obvious - ice. During the dry season this hill is easily passable in a bone stock Tacoma, but the winter season turned it into a nice ice chute for steel and rubber to slide down. We waited for a group of Jeeps to make their way down then decided to take a whack at making it up. I don't have any photos/videos from the ascent, but @Reh5108 turned on the front locker and climbed the hill without any trouble. I quickly hopped in the rig and made my first attempt. Momentum was great, traction not so great. As I was nearing the home front all 4 tires began to spin as the rig started sliding backwards, downhill. Had a little 'oh shit' moment as I slid about 30ft - 40ft downhill before coming to an abrupt stop in a nearby snow embankment. I made 3 or 4 more attempts before finally making it to the top, at which point Ryan and myself separated from the rest of the group. We continued on until nearly trails end where a massive drift prevented us from going any further.

Edit: after looking at the imagery on my GPX file, I think we made it just about 3/4 of the way - maybe a little less? I have no reference of where we were at in relation to the end of the trail, as this was my first time up there. I'll likely find out how much was left some time this spring.

Managed to snap a few poser photos at the highest allowable point of the day.

Nice write up. I haven't run the entire trail, just to the top and I'd say your 3/4 estimate is about right. I think it was the point where @Littles needed some assistance last year.

I believe the original leak was from the output seal on the trans as there was oil between the two. Yesterday morning it was leaking from the top of the tcase (shifter) because I didn't tighten down the bolts enough, or possibly had the gasket at a weird angle. Once we tore everything down, cleaned it up, and put it back together it was leak free.

Guess Jim Morrison didn't think it through that he might return as a dog :D
*For those not enlightened, Jim Morrison told band members that if he died and was reborn he would let them know if was truly himself by using "Mr Mojo Risin" as a code word.
