What do you folks use to protect your black fender flares? I know they aren't meant to remain pristine - it's unpainted plastic after all. But, I'm am surprised at how quickly (<5k miles) they are starting to show road rash, scratches, etc., Anything that can be done to better protect them, or just wear them out and replace when the time comes?

Aerospace 303 UV protectant. Keeps it black and minimizes scuffing while it's on. Not much else to do other than paint it later or replace them. They should last awhile though.

I havnt done anything yet but I imagine a plastic care spray of some sort would work well at keeping em black. Some Armor All or Meguiar's Ultamite Black or something similar. If you google "car plastic care" you will get many different products to choose from.

That 303 is expensive for the amount you get. That shit must be good. I'll have to look into it.

If you want physical protection (as opposed to chemical or UV), get the flares sprayed with Line-X. Can get them colormatched in some Line-X shops, too.

It seems expensive, but it does go a long way. The directions even tell you not to put it on "wet". It blends into itself really well unlike that other off the shelf stuff that gets the oily streaks as you apply it. I've even used it for under chassis for keeping things clean. Spray it on and walk away. This stuff wicks and coats things very evenly after a few hours. Keeps mud and grime from sticking on "permanently" and making it hard to remove. Doesn't have that artificial oily slick shine that the off shelf products leave. It "dries" to a brand new plastic sheen if you're wondering.

I'll need to add this, it is not water repellent like some of the other products. It washes off easily with soap when it's on my hands, so I'm not sure if this would work well in very wet environments. Might have to find something else for those climates.

I use it on all my vehicles and I have one of the automatic subscriptions (reduces the cost significantly) setup on Amazon for it every month and a half. I use it quite a bit inside and out. 3 cars and all of them get this stuff in the engine bay and underside when necessary. The exterior plastics use very little.

Can be applied to fabrics as well and keeps them looking brand new. I have a patio umbrella that sits in the sun all spring/summer and it is as red as the day I pulled it out of the box. I spray it down every summer

This would be the path I would take if my truck had them. Even if I wanted black.

But, I'd likely use www.monstaliner.com product. Same idea, no rubber grit, can DIY w/no spray tools required.

I use 303 on my Tonneau, it still top-o-the-heap for that type application.

But I don't allow Armour All products in my garage.

303 won't protect from scratches but definitely from fading. Spray lightly on a microfiber towel and apply. Wait a few minutes then buff it off. If not, it'll streak. Great product though.
