Can't go wrong with something like an ultra gauge.

 

Ive yet to address that. Was waiting to put my ditch light brakets on to fully install the snorkel.

Anyone done a remote start before, I installed my audiovox and it has a couple accessories, I did window roll up for one, I want to do remote start for the other one but not sure how?

 

I was just telling myself I'm done spending money on this truck unless it's for a winch and/or maintenance. And then I read the spindle failure thread last week. Big mistake...

 

These trucks have a variation on the gauges. both mine and my fathers read 190 on a scanner, yet his gauge is a bit higher than mine, mine runs dead center

 

The other day I had to get jump-chrge, all better now.

 

Anyone in the DFW area know of a good spot for getting alignment done? Hopefully north of DFW as I am up in Frisco. I also need a new windshield, and no insurance wont cover it, so anyone have suggestions?

Can someone recommend a light weight winch for my truck? It will be used off a reciever hitch and not mounted into a bumper. What load rating do I want to look for? Also synthetic or steel line?

synth line if you're worried about weight.

But there are no "light weight'' winches really. You'll want a 8-10,000lb winch

synth line will save your about 30-40lbs. But the winch itself is still gonna be a heavy pig. I'm assuming you'll build a receiver mount for it and that'll make it heavy too. The bright side is you can use it off the ass end of the truck though too.

It'll be one of those things to keep in the back and hope you never need it. Mostly because you'll hate getting it out haha

 

Last time I weighed a couple winches, the Warn 9000lb and the old Smittybilt 8000lb were both about 50 pounds, without any line. I imagine winches in that category will be about the same, give or take.
The synthetic line will only add a few pounds, if that.
Then you have to think of the cradle that mounts to the receiver hitch too. Prolly another 10-15lbs.
They are generally light enough to carry in the driveway, but manhandling one on the trail is a little different exercise.
