How bad will I rub?

I just lifted my double cab with 5100's in the front set at 2.5 inches and a 2 in add a leaf in the rear. If I ran 285/75/16 BF Goodrich mud tires, how much will I rub? I have been told they will rub the cab mount at full turn but is this something that I could just deal with and not cut or do I need to go smaller? I only do light off roading. Cutting is not an option for me.

 

If you get spacers or an aftermarket wheel you probably won't rub the cab mount. You will have to trim the inner fender plastic though.

 

I'm probably going to run the factory wheels with 1.25in spacers.... What size tire should I run to have to do no trimming?

 

For absolutely no trimming at all, 265/75/16. You can check my build in my sig for pictures of how this setups looks on a 3 inch lift.

 

I thought 265/75/16 was the max tire size for a Tacoma with a factory suspension? I can't get anything bigger under there with my lift without having to cut?

 

Not that I'm aware of, the problem is that with a spacer or more backspacing it pushes the wheel outwards more. This makes is possible to clear bigger tires via the upper control arms but by doing this it makes the tire stick out more to where you turn it's closer to the inner fenders. That is why you have to trim.

 

The part he is telling you that you have to trim is very easy. Its just cheap thin plastic on the front part of the wheel well. That and you should probably take off your front mud flaps. With a 2.5" lift in the front you should be able to fit 33"s, if not 32"s.

 

Okay so with the spacers and no front flaps I should be able to just trim a little bit of the inner fender and run 285/75/16's? Anyone have a pic of what you have to trim? I think I'll go this route. Thanks

 

I don't have a pic, I run 265's right now, but I think you can find one if you search for it.

 

That is correct. I have 285/65-18"s with 18x9" wheels with a -12mm offset and I still rub a tad when I am at full tilt. I still need to do a little bit more trimming but never got around to it. Other then that, everything else is great!
