If your windows are tinted, he could have been searching for something else as well. He was profiling you. A lot of my cop friends here admit to doing it. They look for window tinting and then go from there. He prob. looked at your record and found nothing so he had to give you a warning

Lost track many, many mods ago.
That's bogus. No offense but your truck is nearly tall enough to need mud flaps. Glad he gave you just a warning. That would have been a dick move to give you a ticket.

I cut the front flaps down a bit but they are still on there. Make them small like the FJ, and the can't give you shit about it.

No more than 8" off the ground I believe it says.
Since I trimmed mine I am most likely in violation as well.

I don't think they will buy the better milage reason even if it is true.

Look at the bright side now you can get the cool breeze chrome ladys cutouts posing on them!!!

    That screams CLASS man!!!!

Ok I exaggerated alittle with the 4 mpg but I honestly can say I have gotten much better mileage once I removed the flaps, in all honesty

COMMON MAN! This might have been how you should have started the thread.
I've been in AZ 24 years and 15 of them driving lifted trucks, SUV's, and Jeeps - never pulled over once.

Sorry No sympathy from me, they have a good reason to require mud flaps and two that come immediately to mind is chipped paint and cracked windows, neither one should have to be paid for out of someones pocket just because you think you're truck looks better without mud flaps and ignore the law.

If you are driving down the road and some guy in front of you tosses a cigarette butt out the window and it lands on your hood, are you gonna say oh well, he probably thinks his truck looks better if the ash tray is empty or are ya gonna start screaming about some asshat just Fuk'd up you're truck?

    Flame on

ICause I bought a car realizing things happen to it such as trucks/cars whatever kicking rocks up. Did I mentionit being a truck that kicked up the rock? It could have been a car. Trucks, lifted or not, are noth the only things on the road that kick things up. I mean for goodness sake a motocycle might have done it tigerfan!

Smiley face for not being mean with that or anything like that just discussion :)

Also to add I'm not necessarily mad perse, just kind of frustrated and curious as to why there's certain rules for trucks and not the same rules for other vehicles that follow the same lines for example jeeps.

and all cops arent out to get you either

the cop was doing his job...and you got a warning...NOT A TICKET...a warning

you should be thankful you didnt get cited but rather just warned

call it being bored...call it fishing...whatever...if the law requires you to have flaps...then you need to have flaps

I'm in no way mad at the cops and they have been very nice to me whenever I have been pulled over. I guess the whole point to this thread was to ask a simple question of why and what the rules were and why it pertains to certain vehicles and why it doesn't to other ones :D
