Aluminum running boards too high

Aren't those havoc steps already available. The picture that show looks like a 2016 model.

That's a Tundra in the linked photo not a Tacoma.

Interesting. Fitment dropdown doesn't list the Tacoma though. *shrug*

 

They are "available" but waiting for final production. As you can see from my photo we do have them but before we push them live to the sites we need inventory and that should be ready this month.

 

Couple of question, you said you ordered (12) m8 x 100 bolts, why 12. Most important question is you say 1 1/2" dia black pipe, is that the pipe size or the actual diameter of the pipe? My wife has a bad hip and put these running boards on for, they are so high they dont help her. What you have done sounds like a great idea.

Hello to all. This is my first post on the Tacoma board. I’m a proud Texan and bought my first Tacoma SR5 double cab with Shark Running Boards in January 2017. I’m happy with the truck except for what seems to be the infamous “step too high problem”. There are bits and pieces of this sprinkled around but let me see if I can summarize. First, this has been an issue for many years and Toyota seems to be ambivalent. A few Tacoma owners who have access or know fabricators have come up with custom solutions (bracket extensions etc) which seem to work out great. There seems to be no standard trip to Lowes shopping list that will work at lowering the boards a 1” or 2”. Maybe the best solution is to sell the OEM Toyota running boards and retrofit with an aftermarket alternatives? Are there any recommendations for aftermarket running boards that are about 1 or 2 inches lower? I like the look and body protection of the OEM shark running boards. Thanks for your time and help.
