Definitely the truck, without a doubt lol. You don't even want to know what I've been spending on gas lately.

I put it off for awhile and my truck/this hobby was a big reason, well at least it gave me the excuse I needed to take some time and be single for a little while. But yeah dude, I'm polishing up my resume because I think I'm going to need to double my annual income to make this work lol.

Got those SAW's still in my apartment begging to go on but I need to spend the dough on rebuilding them first (actually not very expensive at all but still).

I'm at a hair over $400 in premium dinosaur juice the past 4 weeks. Like you though, my rig's MPG's took a hit about a month ago and I'm trying to figure out why. Probably going to clean the TB with Seafoam pretty soon and run a bottle of it through the fuel tank.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking it would be like mounting an amp under there. Im not so much worried about water damage. I have an access cab. I don't think there would not be enough air flow in the center console. I may just need a custom bracket made.

Damn man that's crazy. Let me know how the seafoam works out, I've always been iffy about it.

I did it on my '99 Prerunner years ago, worked like a charm and smoked out the entire neighborhood lol. I get nervous about running it through the TB too though, I've heard one or two horror stories of people doing it too quickly and fucking up the motor. I'm going to run it through the gas tank first and see what that does, if anything.

Smoked out the entire neighborhood huh, another reason for all my Lexus and BMW drivers to hate me and my muddy truck... :D
Yaaa I've heard a lot of positive and horror too. Makes me step back from that possibility :anonymous:

Yup...that's why I've scaled back the wheeling, if I break something I'm up shit creek lol. With what I'm spending in gas now though I could almost justify the cost of getting another cheap commuter car. Probably going to go that route sooner than later.

Thanks man. Still need to get some final pics going. Drinking and BBQing while modding made the whole process take twice the time. Lol.

I don't want to be slamming my leg on it and from what Im told it will get hot. I have a detachable face so the unit can be tucked away.

Agree with everything said!!! Yeah, after I had posted, I thought about the water damage thing I brought up and pretty much said the same thing you just did about the amp. Also, pretty good point about the airflow! A CB, yeah, I think would be fine, but regarding something pushing +10W, yeah, again, very good point.

So, I take it the unit you have definitely is a bit too deep then?

You know, here is an idea, why NOT mount the base unit where you were originally going to mount it, BUT, remove the head unit. So in other words, your base unit is hidden and your "dash" area, if you will, doesn't look like it has anything installed behind it???!!! :notsure: I don't know if you can picture what I am trying to say and/or convey???

Anyways, just another possible thought AND it should solve the "depth" issue since you don't have to worry about the head unit being attached and as well as look like a clean install?! Again, just a thought. :D:thumbsup::notsure:

You still have to make a custom bracket either way you look at it? NOT ONCE, was I ever able to get around some sort of mod of some sorts!!! :(:facepalm::frusty::goingcrazy:o_O

Which unit did you go with? I'm looking at detachables myself.
