What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Meh. i carry two 16oz bottle. that is a TON of locker actuations.

Then i carry this in the OSK just in case too.



Just put the adapter on those prefilled and im good to go. Think those are 8 or 10 oz...can't remember.

plus i have my 20lb bottle if i get that desperate..haha

 

Hmm. So you close the main valve on the ox regulator when not in use or unscrew the bottle completely completely? Or just leave them?

This setup would be way more simple and space conscious then what I was thinking

But seriously though. I've bought more shocks and coilovers for my truck than I've actually put on my truck...

 

I just close the valve on the Ox regulator when the truck isn't being used. No need to take the bottle out.

Think this is the setup I'll use

 

I wish I knew this before ordering mine last week, came with no bolts, now I've got to order replacements.

 

Installing these bad boys currently

 

Real Quick should i install coilovers or uca First? And which stock parts do I disassemble first shock or uca

 

Pull the shock first. Then swap out the UCA's. The install the new shocks.

 

Think I might go back...

Cycle cycle cycle cycle.

 

I'll also add ask yourself why you want to relocate the shocks, and research the best shock setup for your application. There's a lot of misinformation on here about shock relocation.

I'm getting much closer to ripping mine apart and doing it over because my first setup is not ideal. Will document the process much better this time.

The extent om my current understanding of rear relocation is
|| for go-fast
/\ for sexy flexy

 

sounds good, I'm still doing a lot more research because there are so many options for rear suspension in general and so many different shock choices.. I was originally gonna just look for 10" but now I'm starting to think if I choose to go /\ then 12" would be better, then again || is apparently better for daily driving and weekend warriors but would probably be best with ~10" right? There isn't all that much info around, you gotta really dig into 50 page build threads to find anything (thanks @Blackdawg for the convenient links in yours )

But again, it's all up to what you want to do with your truck.

Decide on which way you want your shocks setup first, then cycle your leaf pack before deciding on shock length.

 

Well like Brett pointed out...

/\ is full of problem. And is better for SHORTER shocks then longer ones.

usually you'll want longer shocks for || as it'll be close to direct wheel travel numbers.

Again, this whole topic is a cluster fuck to talk about haha If you leaf packs will allow 12'' of travel, stuffing 12'' shocks || will preform better over all and all around and it will be MUCH easier to tune the valving.

 

I like my half ass setup Them cheap ass shocks have worked surprisingly well too.
It's not optimal, but I haven't given them a second thought since I did it either.

 

I'm awake again, yes I'll be getting shocks soon or I hope. Anyway some of us dd drvrs might not do so many upgrades until their needed. I suppose when your hitting it hard in the outback, upgrades make more sence. K there's my 2 cents from "Been there done it".
