Yes, they did. The old ones had a complete top portion, to evenly distribute force:

    upload_2017-2-13_20-57-58.jpg

In order to gain more travel, or whatever, they moved the shock up, and made a "C" type top mount:

This unevenly distributes force into the shock mount, creating the issue the OP is describing.

For the record, I liked Icon. They made some good stuff. Their engineers dropped the math on this one though.

Yup. The new design isn't a good one.

And for the record I liked icon too until my top hat cracked and they decided to send me out the same top hat instead of the redesign...

In case I wasn't clear, the OLD design was complete circle. The NEW Design is the "C" style.

The Redesigned one is the one you have. The old one didn't have issues.....well...not like that anyway.

I honestly don't know shit about progressive vs digressive valving - I thought it was just pick a color shock and valve it how you want...until the icons failed.

I can tell you this though for the stock 650# springs on my icon extended travel c/o - they come valved with wayyyyy too much rebound for any high speed bumpety bump stuff.

Or just get a coilover with a top hat design that doesn't suck from the get go and then you won't need a cross brace from your coil bucket warping

I agree. I swapped 600# King coils in and it was a major improvement.

If it makes you feel any better I wish I had gone King from the start. :spy:
