    Opinions welcomed!

Not wanting to break the bank too much but want to get what I pay for. I do a lot of driving and some offloading in mountains and beach. I need a solid set up thats not too rough.

I have the bilstein setup and it's fine, but now I want to upgrade and wish I would have went icon to begin with. Just my 2 cents.

I have the 6112 setup. Its good stuff for the money. Is Icon better? Of course it is. But Bilsteins work well on a limited budget.

I agree with these guys. Just buy once cry once. If you're not planning performance CO's in the future, get bilstein. You'll be happy. But if you are, save your cash and splurge now instead of twice.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I would love to get the Icons but realistically I only go off-roading 4-5 times a year and it's very mild, nothing crazy. So I'm not sure if paying the extra $1000 or so for Icons is worth it for my uses. Hell I can take that extra grand and get OTHER stuff for my truck and still have a solid suspension lift.

I'm considering the kit from Headstrong with 6112s + Total Chaos UCAs up front, and 5160s with Dakars in back.

Awesome advice, I appreciate it for sure!
I was leaning towards the Bilsteins in the first place, just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing anything. Im a firefighter so most of the driving will be to work. But also to the beach like i said.

I'm in the same boat, but on the 4R side. I'll let you what I've researched:
-6112 are supposedly warrantied for life.
-5160 are only warrantied for 90 days.
-4R guys at least have had issues with both leaking. I had 5100s on a previous JK and I had a front start leaking.
-Icon 2" rears (non remote res), at least for the 4R, were cheaper than the 5160s, warrantied for a year, rebuildable, and are longer with still not needing )bumpstop extenders (so longer down travel, no reduction in up travel)
-Icon front extended length coilovers and standard length coilovers cost the same. So if you are going to purchase control arms, just get the extended length coilovers for more downtravel.
-Icon front and rears are warrantied for a year, all are rebuildable and tunable. Rears are around $65 ea to rebuild, fronts are $125ea to rebuild?
-Icon fronts were about $500 more than the 6112s, iirc. Plus you'll still need rear springs.

Just some things to think about. I was set a set of bilsteins until I started looking at the numbers. Decided to bite the bullet and go for teh Icons. If you do some shopping around, it's probably cheaper to piece together a kit than to buy it as a whole. I got a set of rear shocks, new in box, for $200. I'll get SPC upper control arms instead of Icons, etc. I'll end up with what Icon calls a stage 2 or 2+ kit for significantly cheaper.
