    I just finished the 2nd episode.
    Loved all the previous seasons and read a lot of the books.

    Yes, same show/universe. this one is set in D.C. instead of L.A. Jack Bauer was imprisoned in Russia at the end of the last season, which is why he is not in this new season.
    Kiefer Sutherland has said he will not be in the new show, but I'm hoping for at least a cameo, or a storyline where the new Agent rescues him. Something to tie it in to previous seasons.
