Did you buy your truck as a totaled vehicle at an insurance auction? Would it pass a safety inspection in Pennsylvania?

Maybe a little bit in the back, but the car was structurally sound enough to be driven on a public road from auction site to body shop.

No I rolled it off road on some private property. It passed NC state inspection. Its impossible to tell there was ever damage. unless you start pulling interior panels off and find the welds.

You have convinced me. Obviously if I have the misfortune of parking my truck in an area that floods and it's totally submerged, the insurance company can have it and I'll buy a new one. However, you have convinced me that if my truck ever gets severe body damage and gets totaled, but is ultimately structurally sound, I'll just buy it back and have my body guy Butch fix it. If my front, seat/side, OR curtain/roof airbags go off and my truck is damaged but the structural integrity is not compromised, you bet your ass I'm buying it back and getting it fixed! My truck is a 2010 regular cab with less than 71K miles and a fortune in upgrades!

I draw the line at ANY KIND of salt water damage, fresh-water damage above the seats, major frame damage, or anything where the structural integrity is compromised. However, anything other than that and I'm fixing it... Just because the airbags deployed doesn't mean it was in a major accident... Butch (my body guy) told me that just a driver's airbag for my truck would be like $600, and said that if I hit a deer or something and got minor damage but the driver airbag deployed, my truck probably would not be totaled.

If you buy it back then you end up with a salvage title right?

My insurance company has no idea anything ever happened to my truck...

One that likes to park his dependable truck in the garage. I get all crazy when my truck sits outside and I have to scrape ice off the windshield. Crazy I say. CRAZY!

Yeah, but having a salvage title wouldn't bother me. It's one thing if you buy a vehicle that came with a salvage title, another in my opinion if it was my vehicle and I know why exactly it has a salvage title. Plus, my truck was already involved in a significant accident where a drunk guy hit me in the left rear and did almost $3,000 in damage. It did not affect the resale value of my truck AT ALL. Not that I'd sell it.

Don't know if you've seen this...

This is the result of a drunk old man running a stop sign in his 2002 Mercedes E320 back in October 2015, and clobbering the left rear of my truck as I made a left turn in a 3-way intersection...

I have to leave mine outside cause our garages are low and my truck won't fit anymore since I lifted it. So sad

I have a story but it's nothing like yours. I heard about this "abandoned mansion" and it took months to find the location of it. People who are "true" explorers, do not reveal places of interest in fear teens will tag up the place or simply ruin it. Anyway, it was quite a hike away from my house so this was going to be a day trip. I finally roll up and the place is big but, not terribly big. They had fencing around the entire structure but there was a large gap under the fence in which I could easily slip under so.......under the fence I went.

I made my way around to the side of the building and there was a basement entrance and the door was ajar. Yeah, I know what you're thinking....illegal, dangerous...etc but, I'm here for photos so in I go. Place is really cool. Most of the furnishings are still in place and no sign of idiots tearing up the joint. I make my way through the mansion and I find this awesome piano under a window. This is really why I came here, to get this image. JDS_9238-2.jpg

So, I'm inside for about 90 minutes exploring and snapping pics when I decide it's time to go. It was a weekday so traffic outside the structure was quiet. I made my way out the same way I came in. I didn't touch anything inside, I just took pics (wait, I did lock a door from the back kitchen that led outside). I crawl back under the fence and walk across the street from the structure. I'm standing there now and taking pics of the mansion from the opposite side of the road when a car pulls up. A woman (guessing in her 60's) gets out of the drivers side and walks up to me and asks: "What are you doing?" Oh boy, here we go I'm thinking. Now, usually, I would not be so nice in my reply but I just tried a different approach and said I was out of town and passing through when I saw this interesting structure so I decided to snap a few pics. She said: "Well, my father owns it and he's in the car". At that point, she motions to him and he climbs out of the car and makes his way over. The fella had to be in his 90's. I greeted him, and shook his hand and told him that I found the structure to be very interesting. He took the time to explain the history of the building, and it's reason for it being abandoned.

I guess him seeing me interested in it kinda made him feel good. He walked up the other side of the driveway (it had a circular driveway) and walked right up to the main entrance. The damn gate was open the entire time !! Anyway, while he was away from us, the woman told me the kids want to sell the building and the 40 acres it's sitting on but the old man refuses to sell. She said "If he ever leaves us, we're selling". At that point he comes back and asks: "Have you been inside?" My answer of course is "No, I just stopped". He actually wanted to go inside but his daughter told him no and that there are probably animals inside and that the insurance company doesn't want anyone inside. Anyway, I thanked them for stopping and sharing their story with me and I left.

It would be cool if he had this picture but, I was never supposed to be there in the first place. I'll share it here with you guys instead.

My 2 problems with the 2016/17 tacomas are really simple.
    3.5-Liter V6 DOHC 24-Valve direct-injection Atkinson-cycle.
I want a truck not a prius. Engine is too small and running a atkinson cycle engine? No.

    Nothing.

Except when it's in a truck. The 6cyl Tacoma is barely functional as a truck let alone a tinier engine.

My 4 cyl does just fine in my first Gen. Less maintenance than a v6 too

I need HP and Torque (Taco is just a toy/hunting rig, I can't "use" it very much). I just don't see how people get any use out of a 4cyl. Other than just having a space that can be dirty.

But why would u need more HP and torque if you just daily drive and trail ride.

Why would you need a truck at that point?
