    Gents/Ladies,
After only 13 months with my Tacoma I have decided to replace it. I don't think there is a better looking vehicle, nor a cooler one to own though. The social acceptance of the Tacoma is awesome. I wear a suit to work in it everyday and it still works for me.
The issue is that I'm 6'5" and I rushed the test drive since I always wanted one. If the steering wheel could extend another 3 inches, I wouldn't sell it. I'm reaching for it though and my back just cant handle it anymore.
I order a 2018 VW Atlas with the V6 and AWD. Its a HUGE SUV that will accommodate my goofy size. It will arrive in May and I will sell my Taco then. Thank god it holds such great value so I'm not getting burnt too badly.

It aint pretty...but its huge and only coming in at $45k Canadian plus taxes...nearly the same as I paid for my Taco...(before upgrades...)

If he was that cramped driving a Tacoma I doubt the 4R would have been too much different.

x2...coming from a 4Runner it has practically the same seating position. Only difference would be the adjustable seats.

That's why I mentioned the 4Runner. Looks like OP is willing to sacrifice quality/reliability for comfort.

4Runner would not solve the height issue at all. Same awkward seating position. Maybe a Highlander or Sequoia if you're strictly shopping Toyota.

Yes, Ill be giving up so much of the excellent Toyota quality's to get this but comfort is important and although I don't want to open another can of worms, I wont miss this Auto tranny for a moment. I had to turn on ESC or whatever every day I've owned it. Gone will be 3 separate gears for a 3km/h increase in speed.

Ive owned a handful of Audis and VWs in the past and never once had an issue. I am however aware of how rare that is. Fingers crossed.

Also - I found the 4runner about the same as par seating in my Taco. I would have LOVED it but its also a lot more money than this VW.

    Good luck, I've owned multiple VW's. Mk4, mk5, mk6, and a mk7.

All of them had major issues right around 70k miles.

I will say, the new MQB platform has really driven up the quality on the mk7. That said, VW dealerships are terrible and reliability will likely be an issue. Especially given that this looks to be a new model.

Good luck, but I think you would be better off waiting a little while longer for the new 2018 4runner.

3rd, 4th, and 5th Gen 4Runners have all had same basic seating position. I wouldn't bank on buying a 6th Gen 4Runner that would be drastically different. And if it is drastically different it will be due to a transition to unibody which would be worse than an uncomfy seat. Congrats on the new vehicle @ExtraExtra. I guess you shouldn't have expected much support on a Tacoma forum announcing your purchase of a VW...

I find myself wondering if there's a way to mount a 3" spacer to extend the steering wheel... (might not be possible, but it's a thought)
