How is a "military kid" different than any other young kid with a job when it comes to buying a used truck? Are "military kids" extraordinarily susceptible to being scammed when compared to say "construction kids"? Would it be ok to scam a "construction kid" but not a "military kid"?

Not trying to start anything I am just pointing out it is wrong to take advantage of any young kid.

The 'military kid' comment could be taken a lot of ways just like the 'real men want a truck' comment the OP made. He sort of seems to have an edge about him but oh well....no big deal.

I'm wondering why he's selling the truck but I wish him well. It has to be frustrating to be upside down on a vehicle...

What the hell is a factory short shift? o_O

Is it the Toyota TRD aftermarket short shift that was dealer installed?

I asked him a simple question, he hasn't responded. I don't suppose he wants you to answer for him. But perhaps he does.

The plain English that I used requires no explanation, and I'm not obligated to give one just cuz for some strange reason a couple of you kinda read that sideways. If you're gonna act like women and read between lines and whatnot, fabricating shit out of thin air where before there was nothing at all, perhaps 4chan or reddit?

I owe 29xxx on it cuz my previous truck I traded in for this, this loan has a little negative equity in it. Not much, but I really don't wanna do the trade in thing again. I bank with navy federal, I know they'll refinance it for me no problem but I need something different now. It's whatever =)

Nothing to see here, gentlemen.. Jeez.

When you write shit like this, that is the problem. Your "plain english" is terrible. When you talk of the military and are asked for clarification, common sense says you should explain yourself. Instead, you compare those same people to women. Women, in your opinion, read between the lines and fabricate shit out of thin air, when there there was nothing there at all. I hope some of the females on TW see this thread and put you in your place. If you don't want opinions or questions directed about something you post, then leave or don't post. Probably would save more than a few members the headache of reading and responding to you.[/QUOTE]

... ^^^... This .... it is your "end game" and sell yourself and keep the extra $2K+ dealer profit.

Have sold several on AutoTrader and it was super easy.

I keep my trucks like new and put a reasonable price on them and usually first person that looks .. buys it.

OP. Please let us know how your sale turns out.

If your truck is in good shape and dealer offered you $26K ... it is very possible for you to get $2k to $3k more in SoCal.

    GLWS and keep us posted

I didn't jump down his throat. I simply asked for an explanation. That, and my feet are too big. ;)

+1, I will price mine above NADA and slightly above what others are listed for. Rear seats are perfect. I have only had them up for a one week trip to Fl.. Front seats have been covered since month 1. Bed has some scratches on the side and what not but I use it. Other than the interior side of the bed the truck is perfect. I fully expect the dealer to be salivating over it when I go to buy my next one. When I bought this one I told them I was selling the 2009 myself and they made the trade in value high enough with the tax credit that I was not going to mess with it.

I'm in the military, and have been in for 6 years now. Yes, junior service members are a lot easier to rip off. Most are right out of high school and have never had this sort of money before, don't know how to properly handle it, and think they're hot shit. Mustangs are a dime a dozen with young members. San Diego is a huge Navy hub, with plenty of people right out of schooling that have been in for 6 months. I hear stories all the time of people getting auto loans with 10-15% APR simply because they don't know any better. There are companies on black lists around military bases for shady business practices for this very reason. I'm not commenting on what OP said, or what he intended, but merely the fact that yes, young military members are susceptible to shady business practices.
