Anyone Tried-Heard Hybrid Audio Imagine Series?

After a long conversation with Marv yesterday, he convinced me to try the Hybrid Audio Imagine series based on what I was looking to spend and looking to hear.

What I find interesting about this series of speaker is that you can run them both as coaxial or components (tweeter in the mid or seperated). Marv recommended that I run them as coaxial and leave the tweeter spot in the door empty. I expressed to him my concern about the sound simply coming from the lower door and he reassured me that I wouldnt notice. I know Ive had other cars with speakers in the lower door only and never noticed any big difference...but I still cant help but wonder.

That being said, these speakers seem to get very favorable reviews, especially considering their price bracket. I also know Marv has intelligent selective taste, so if he believes in them Im easily on board.

Anyone have any experience with these speakers? Thoughts?

As usual Marv's customer service was absolutely top notch, and I am really looking forward to giving these speakers a try when I get them.

 

I am a big fan of Hybrid Audio speakers... there is a lot of quality built into their speakers and from my experience sound phenomenal... not to mention the owner of the company seems like a great guy from my limited interaction with him. Most of my Hybrid Audio experience is with their Legatia series; however, I have heard a partial Imagine Series setup. The Hybrid Audio rep that covers the southwest has the Imagine Series 6 1/2" mid in his door and one of their L4 speakers in the kick and it sounded amazing.

One thing that I think is very important besides the speakers themselves is the installation. Proper sound deadening really completes the installation and will help bring out what the speakers are capable of doing.

With all that being said, I think there are a number of speakers you could go with that will fit your needs... and I'm pretty confident that the Imagine Series setup is one of them.

 

The ability to mount as coax and/or seperates aren't new...there are a few out there already. I have always ran seperates up front and coax in the rear but recently I am running seperates in both front and rear.

 

Right, I wasnt trying to imply it was new technology...just new to me. Like I mentioned, Im curious to try these...but Im a little worried about not having the tweeters up in their normal position. In my mind it seems strange to have all the sound coming out of the lower door. Not because of where it is, but more out of fear that it will be obvious. I want the sound to "fill the cabin", not come up out of the lower area if that makes sense.

Dunno. Still pondering the whole thing.

 

Do what you want since its your truck. Me, I always run seperates in my vehicles. Even when I don't have factory tweeters I make a place for them.

 

Nah man I appreciate the input. Im still learning as I go! I am hesitant still, but Marv keeps reassuring me...

 

Hybrid Audio speakers are top notch. Although I've never heard their Imagine series, I would not hesitate to install them in any of my vehicles. Their top (legatia) and mid level (Clarus) are both simply amazing. I've used both of those series, and am even in the process or replacing the Dynaudio setup I have in my DD with a HAT Legatia setup. That says a lot right there! Although one thing to keep in mind is that speakers are all subjective to the listener... I may like something you don't.

As mentioned above though, install is very important. To get a good midbass response, the door needs to be properly deadened. You would also be amazed at how sealing all the holes in the door improves the sound. It's well worth the effort.

 

Aside from sounding great, they also have a trade in program that helps you as your addiction grows.

I started with the Clarus components. I later traded the Clarus tweeters and passive crossovers in towards some of their Legatia stuff.

That's a major plus in my book.

 

Yeah I intend to sound deaden here in the coming months if not sooner.
