    its a Taurus... it has an external safety and that Is a big turn off to most for a sd carry gun. that's basically it, size wise its pretty comparable to a shield but its a double stack so its slightly thicker

    It's fun watching someone shooting the 500 the first time. Psychologically they know what it is and tense up so much, the kick then gets 'em even worse.

    When I bought it the guy at the gun show said "You're more of a man than me" and the lady doing the paperwork was like "Don't drop it on your toes honey". I think it's funny how scared of it people are. I definitely respect it, but I wasn't afraid. I unfortunately can't shoot it anymore since arthritis has robbed me of some of my hand strength and I don't feel confident in my ability to control it anymore.

    Put a rifle stock on it.

    Years ago, some friends and my boys were out shooting and one of the friends had a 500. Both my early teen boys shot it and did surprising well with it. Not sure if it was confidence or they just didn't know any better to have any fear.
