I bought a tacoma pre runner double cab with off road package today. I also bought extended warranty for 7years/100k miles. the cost of this warranty is $2550. It has a $25 deductible and its called "Portfolio Elite Protection Plan" and my coverage type was "Plan B. Exclusionary Coverage" the dealer told me that this is the bumper to bumper warranty and includes everything except wear and tear items.

I want to know what others have paid and the type of coverage they have purchased. Did I get ripped off here?

Yup, you got ripped off hard. Troy Dietrich of Greenfield Toyota offers a 7 yr/100k mi $0 deductible for $880. You should be able to get a refund through Toyota for the warranty.

I originally bought an expensive warranty like that the day I purchased...came home and did some research (which I should have done beforehand) and ended up cancelling due to all the crap I see people go through even though everything should be covered. You probably have like 30 days to cancel and still get a full refund.

The guy was probably booking a European vacation after you walked out the door. :(

I got mine for a 2009 AC 4X4 Sport from Troy (who is listed in the post above) for about $1100. 8 year + 100,000 mile no deductible platinum plan. Troy was great to deal with, and these are real Toyota plans, not some third party plan.

There is also a member here from Handy Toyota that will offer up the same type deal. Get your money back and contact one of these guys.

You don't have to purchase right away either. As long as you get it before the 3 years/36K expires you're good.
And congrats on your purchase and welcome to TW!

Got pretty much the same deal as Kodiakva...8 yr/100,000 no deductible plan. Figured I'll drive the truck that long, and w/ all the techno gadgetry they zing on these things, it will pay off in the long run...just make triple dog sure the warranty is a Toyota one as stated above. Don't get discouraged, these things happen; I've been hoo-dooed over the years at various times and have yet to learn from any of them!:p Hope things work out well for you, as I'm sure they will...

Apparently someone has to pay for California's woes. You must be the one.

While it looks like some paid less than I did (1100.00) with $ 0 deductible, I didn't pay nearly as much as you.

I don't buy warranty's and I didn't buy the extended warranty the dealer offered, but after joining up on this forum and reading the various problems that pop up I'm wondering if I should have  I plan on keeping this truck for a while....

doh, looks like I got ripped off as well. I've got a 7yr 100k, no deductible warranty. Looks like I gave the Toyo Dealer an extra 800 more than I should of.

Warranties on my other vehicles have been well worth the money and would recommend them to anyone buying a new vehicle. I got more than my money's worth on my Jeep warranties.

That's what I paid if I remember right. Mine might have even been in the $1300 range.

Nah, he probably paid only $700 for the warranty. The rest was Calif taxes (or more commonly referred to as Terminator taxes).:D

Mine was free. Lifetime powertrain warranty. Olathe Toyota. Kansas.
If I was at a dealer and they wanted me to lay down money on a bet that my vehicle would fail before 100,000 miles I would go somewhere else.

I bought a 7 year, 50k warranty on my '02 Camaro, never used it and got all my money refunded at the end of the 7 years.
I bought almost the same warranty on the Tacoma (except 5 years only, 75,000 miles) and it is refundable if I never use it. It's called Toyota Extra Care Platinum and cost $1900.
I have to be the original purchaser of the warranty and I have to apply for the refund within 60 days after it expires. You have to prove you are the owner and so forth.
So if I never use it it costs me nothing and if anything does go wrong between 36k and 75k miles I'm covered.

    Looks like you were abused.

The good news is that you started this thread and now know that you can apparently undue the damage.

Lifetime powertrain warranty? Wow! I wish I had been more informed when I bought my truck! I would have taken a plane to a dealership that offered that!

I don't think we can purchase that unless our trucks have less than 6K miles on it...

EDIT: The Lifetime Warranty is a non factory warranty good at participating dealers only.
