This latest card you see is about the 5th iteration I've been messing with. Before even posting the first version you see in this thread there were other... Less... Savory examples of what one might refer to as a "business card"

Purely amateur... Haha. Not something I wanted to post here on account of it would certainly get torn to shreds.

That being said my wife and I both have given alot of thought to some of the points you brought out.

A map to where she is located:
The reason this is not included is because she rents a table at another business much the same as a hair dresser would do with renting a chair.

Her client base is a good size but still has plenty of room to grow. Even as is she is making more money on a busy day than I do in one day paid hourly (I could afford a Tacoma, so logic states now I can afford a 4runner on top of that!)

Simply put, the point of this card is just to get more people aware of her businesses existence, she's established, but could do with more clients and in her business of dog grooming, her talents and skills themselves certainly speak louder than a simple business card. This is not to downplay the importance of a professional look to the card either, simply the facts as I see them. We're also rushed for a local dog show this coming weekend that we're attending to get cards into potential clients hands. (Rushing is the bane of many businesses - I hear - but some things can't be helped)

Lastly (I'm trying not to come off too defensive here so please pardon me if that's what this sounds like) I do have to disagree with social media being unprofessional way to reach customers. At least for a small local business. Remember this is local servicing our area and about 50km radius from where she works. Without a business card for the last 3 years her main source of new clients has been word of mouth and Instagram/Facebook. I do agree there ARE better ways to market a business, however those cost money. And at the moment our focus is getting customers in the door and doing a quality groom on their pets that simply speaks louder than a fancy website (which is coming soon)

Hopefully this all clears things up a little better..? But I honestly do appreciate your feedback too. These are things I will come back to and address in the future when we have more time and money, and most likely after this first round of business cards has been used up. So I hope to keep this thread open for the meantime as everyone here has definitely contributed very good constructive criticism for my wife and I to consider and further develop things like business cards, truck decals and such

Also we have two beautiful Huskies that have been our main marketing. Very healthy dogs very well behaved for the breed, and they are what start most conversations with people that leads to the usual "my wife is actually a dog groomer"
"Oh really?! I need a new dog groomer the one I go to down the road at such and such does a terrible job"
Our dogs are another reason the card has a wolf/husky theme to it since one of our dogs is part wolf. And about 50% of the clients she has have large breed dogs that shed alot. I understand that hastag sounds childish or even unprofessional, but believe it or not, there is a another groomer who's business name is SHED HAPPENS. She's doing well! Haha

One last thing... She has a fair amount of older clients that can't get out and many of them she does house calls for or will pick up their dogs and bring them to the shop for a fee as long as they're in town. So that's another aspect of the business we're trying to build up as even young people have busy lives and can't take a day off work to bring their dog in. So picking them up and dropping them off is another service she is offering

Shedhappens was something we totes around with for a while. I think if its received poorly in our area it will be removed in the next batch but so far the general consensus has been positive with her current clients and new clients. It's exciting to see her client base grow by nearly 100 customers in just 2 weeks (whether those will be repeats in the future remains to be seen)

best form of advertising is word of mouth. Keep up the good work . And Honestly its a very good looking business card. Just because I would do things differently doesn't mean its a bad card. It looks good man

Thanks man :) I didn't mean to go off on a rant there that was more for everyone else to be informed also. I think there were some details I left out in the OP. Plus I tend to write novels when responding to messages.

Actually out of curiosity, I used to have a Husky and loved it, It's always been in the back of my mind to get a half wolf and I noticed you mentioned your dog is half wolf. Do you have to have any kind of special permits or licenses? How do you go about finding a hybrid wolf?

This.... This was an original concept and meant to be just an idea. THIS I need you all to tear apart... My wife thinks this looks professional and is adamant about it being her logo. (Sadly it currently IS on her social media and needs to be changed ASAP - to what I don't know)

Please roast it, so I can show her I am not the only one who thinks it looks unprofessional

@ERMB what's your take on this?

Yes indeed. 2 and a half years, known her for close to 8 years now. I can honestly say I married my best friend and the only woman on this planet that can handle me - I'm a temperamental person... I'm working on it.. haha

Much better design, but the font isn't that legible. It almost looks like "TOM'S" instead of Toni.

Yep the one on the left is Sitka - my wife's dog before we were married (named after the town in Alaska I will probably never be able to afford to go to...) And the Sitka Spruce. And the one on the right is Kita. She's mine from before we were married as well.

She's not quite a hybrid since the % is lower than 50... So in our area we don't need any special licenses or anything. However slwhen she gets annoyed it's very clear. She's a loving loyal dog, but we still keep a close eye on her around our nephews and other kids. I don't want to chance anything. There is always that one time you're not paying attention and something happens for some reason. As for getting a hybrid... I honestly can't give you any advise since its entirety dependant on the area you live in and local availability from hybrid breeders. There are so many factors in finding a dog that you are looking for specific traits and qualities. Unfortunately in this case I have to say Google is your friend. I honestly thought my dog would be close to 100lbs she hasn't even broken 50 and she's 6 years old... So do your research because if you want something specific, you have to know where to look, and who to contact. I wish I could be of more help, but the only advice I can give you on this one is if you're getting a high energy breed make sure you let them burn that energy. My wife takes the dogs to work with her everyday. Constant socializing is the number one reason we can trust our dogs around most dogs... Just not cats... They've eaten cats before... Cats are a no go
