I've had my Toyota for about 2 months and I'd like to purchase step bars next.
I'm interested in what you all have, why you like them and where you purchased them.
    Thanks in advance.

20161009_125422.jpg I went with Mobtown Offroad rock sliders at 0 degrees and filler plates. Wife wanted steps, I wanted protection.... a little high but works.

I installed a set of Lund 5" Oval Curved Steel Nerf Bars.
Part number 23884295 for double cab. autoanything.com or Amazon.com. $215 - 50 rebate. Bolt on using factory mounts. Easy install for one person. They are a perfect fit.

There is a video on youtube that has good info on these. He has the straight bars, I got the curved ones. Otherwise the same bars.

Thanks. Those nerf bars look great...it helps to see that they are on the same color of truck I have. :)

Glad to help. I looked at a bunch of photos online before deciding what to get. I think the black bars look good with the blue (vs chrome), but that's a matter of personal taste.
I'm really happy with the LUND's. No regrets.

Are you going to off road with it? If so you probably don't want a step bar as it could potentially cause extra damage. Rock sliders would be the way to go but aren't really steps as the point of them is to retain the ground clearance but deflect damage from your rocker panels

Do you need to know, or care?
I have the OEM ones, I don't recommend them. They sit too close to the body and are only good for avoiding some door dings from small cars.

I have the OEM cast aluminum running boards, part # PT767-35160. Got them for a great price via ebay and installed them shortly after I took my Tacoma home. I've been very happy with them. While they're quite solid, they're body-mounted and not to be mistaken for sliders.

I won't be going off road. Just looking for a step to help with getting in and help to prevent future door dings. I like the ovals mentioned before.

I had the factory (OEM) put on, they are ok, but I find they are not low enough to be what I would consider a step. But they are great for reaching the roof, and keeping snow crap off part of the truck.

Westin HDX Drop Step bars. I got them for a steal at $319.00 from auto anything. You have to catch them on chat and negotiate
