Fluttering sound from TRD CAI???

Here's my question, and am wondering if this has happend to anyone else, and what they did to fix it???????

OK, I own a 2010 DC v6 (only about 2,500miles on it) and replaced my stock intake (at approx. 40miles) with a TRD CAI and replaced the oil trd filter they give you with a AFE dry flow filter.

I noticed this fluttering noise soon after intalling the cai, between 20-35mph's, or when i'm going up hill. And it's not going away.

I removed the top of the cai box to see if it would help but it didn't. I did notice that the rubber seal is about an inch short (when I installed it) wich is creating gap in the rubber seal that goes from the box to the inner fender. Could that be whats causing it? I hope that is a clear enough description.

Anyone else experienced this??? If I can't fix this im putting my stock intake back in and just getting TRD exhaust!

 

sounds like the same sound i had in both my tacomas with the cai. when your engine is at lower rpm's and "struggling" a little the engine shakes which includes the air intake.
take the box and try to shake it front to back. its actually wiggles pretty easy and it should make the same noise. its the box hitting the top of the wheel well on the side closest the windshield.
i went to lowes and got those little rubber pads with sticky on one side. stuck one under the box. no probles since then. hope this helps

eskamo23 did you fix the trd cai problem? my music is always on so i don't notice it on mine. i plan on getting the trd catback exhaust also heard its a good combination with the cai.

 

Mine did that before I took it off. I like my stock induction better (with AFE S Pro Dry drop in).

 

i noticed if i turn the music up just enuff i cant hear it either, lol... naw havent had time to mess with it yet. i hope to this weekend tho...

 

i might end up going back to stock and do the same thing you did, if i cant find out whats making this damn noise...

 

my god mon, u were 100% right. i took out the filter and box and could see plain as day where it was moving and rubbing the top of the fender. i went to home depot and got some clear square sticky things about a 1/4" thick and put them where it looked to be rubbing. installed everything about 3 diff. times because i kept dropping the last damn allen bolt for the lid of it under the box. once i over came that, i jumped in, and slammed on the gas and the noise was gone!

Hi Judd,

I'm having the same problem and it's driving me crazy. I wiggled the box and can hear the sound but can't see where it's actually hitting the wheel well. If possible, could you please post a picture or two of where you placed the rubber (under the box)?
