Air Compressors: Pumping up the tires after Off-Roading

    oh I agree with you there lol. I keep hearing it from people but never understood how it would hurt them.
    I know some things do react to CO2 bad...but never heard of rubber doing so.

    only thing I could see maybe being an issue is that CO2 gets really cold?
    I mean hey on mythbusters they used a CO2 fire extinguisher to cool a 6pack in like 30sec lol

    There is a wiring diagram included with the kit .. or did you buy the portable version? (I have both)

    Still wouldn't be that hard, mount the compressor where you want and run a 12 gauge wire from the battery, splice the wiring together and find a good ground. Leave the switch on the compressor in the 'on' position and put a SPST switch in line of the hot wire from the battery and run it to the cab.

    Oh yeah. It gets cold. If I run tools, in humidity, I can get ice on the regulator. Filling tires, it doesn't drop much. By the time it comes out the end of the hose, its ambient temp. My choice for a Co2 set up was made because I got tired of the noise of an OB compressor, and how slow to fill up a tire they are. I know that some put out some pretty impressive CFM, but my old one, by the time I had filed up one of my tires, my buddy filled all 4 of his, and was airing up another truck. Down side is that Co2 needs to be refilled. Good news is that Instant Air Supply sells complete kits for about 200 bucks. My tank lasts about 9 months. Never counted tire fills, but Ive aired up most of my co workers tires, balloons for B-day parties, etc. At 10 bucks a fill, I'd have to refill a crapload of times before Ive spent enough as an ARB compressor. All without having to screw around with wiring, and noise.........or waiting to charge a tank. :)

    Yeah, but if you don't chase the seated tire with a solid shot of air, that starting fluid bead seat, will flatten again when the air cools, and shrinks.....

    Basic overland stuff...
    I just finished installing an ARB dual compressor between my bed and rear passenger fender. I've ran Viair systems and Powertank CO2 systems on previous builds.

    CO2 is nice but can be a pain to get filled. I also had one blow off inside a Jeep before from being overfilled and temperature change. Not fun. It has a ton of power but you must have a good regulator.

    The ARB dual setup is nice but it's a monster and pretty loud. I don't see how anyone deals with it inside their cab. I looked at the portable box version but it's just one more item to pack and deal with.
