I just purchased my 01 4x4 DC a week ago. It came with a spacer lift on it already but eventially getting rid of that and going with a better option. My question is can I run steel bumpers front and back without to much weight on just the spacer lift? I've already got a sheet of 3/16 steel from a past project just laying here and thought I would begin building the bumpers. If it's to much weight I want to wait until I can afford to do other mods on the truck to handle it. Might also consider aluminum but would prefer the steel if I could. Just wondering if could go ahead with the bumpers or if it would be a waist of time and steel. Thanks 20170211_115222.jpg

3/8?? That would be wayyy too heavy, go for 1/4 or less most people use 3/16. tube bumpers are generally much lighter, Id say put it off unless you know what lift you want and know that it can handle the weight. Bumpers will give you a very noticeably rougher ride and sag on stock suspension

It'll be a while before I can save up to start doing good high end mods to the lift but since I already have the material for bumpers with the 3/16 steel it's not gonna cost me anything extra to build the bumpers. Has anyone had experience with putting steel bumpers on with a spacer lift? If it's not do-able then is there any cheap mods to get by with on the suspension other than the spacer lift to hold up better with the bumpers? And what would the cost be if there is other options. Im still new. Thanks

Get 5100s and ome 883 coils, you will be good to go. I saw someone selling ome shocks and 882 coils for 80$ today. You have lots of brands and options to choose from. OME and Toytec being most popular

    Go for it !!

That little amount of weight should not make that much of a difference

Great looking truck. Mine is exactly like that cap and all. Can I ask what kind of wheels they are ? Looks awesome.
